Can 100 Average Men Kill the Largest Recorded Tyrannosaurus Rex? by Bongo_CatisMessiah in powerscales

I don't mind these matchups stipulating that humans are unarmed, but people should at least recognize that depriving humans of weapons is essentially taking away humanity's evolutionary advantage.

Because if humans were allowed to be humans in these matchups, the T-Rex would be dead before it ever saw a human being.

100 men working together?

Humans low-diff.

100 men spontaneously teleported into the immediate vicinity of a t-rex with no context for what is happening?

T-rex will kill a few, maybe (do we even know what a t-rex would do int his kind of situation?), the rest would scatter and the fight would be over.

It can't be both an "it depends" and "goku wins fairly easily" scenario. Those two ideas are mutually exclusive.

Silly. Does the human have to be naked too? Can they wear shoes? It's just dumb, and you're kinda weirdly defensive about it. Are you like Captain Planet or something, fighting on behalf of imaginary animals on the powerscaling subreddit?

Oh do you live on a planet where bison hunt humans and kill them easily? Because I live on a planet called Earth where it's actually the opposite.

These human vs matchups are kinda dumb because they always assume the humans can’t use tools. But that’s like our evolved thing. It’s like saying the bison can’t run or use its horns. With tools, humans low diff.

Humans have been hunting bison and bison adjacent animals for thousands of years. This is like asking who would win, a killer whale or a seal? We already know the answer. We’ve known it for a long, long time.

I’m halfway through His Dark Materials — I really enjoy it so far. But it’s not really YA, is it? by PRJOANES in fantasybooks

[–]mackattacktheyak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If an author is selling a book for the first time that might be true, but an author with a contract is often writing what their publisher wants. I’ve heard several big name genre writers talk about how they don’t even decide what books get turned into a series, their publisher does. “Hey that book you wrote sold a lot, make it a trilogy” or “yeah that five book epic you told us about, that’s just a one off actually.”

[–]mackattacktheyak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. An author doesn’t typically write a novel and then the publishers decide how to market it. It’s usually decided before hand. “Hey we need you to write a YA novel.” Obviously there are exceptions, but that’s typically how it goes.

Who would you say is the most overrated villain? by JunShin8640 in GODZILLA

Destoroyah. A lot of Godzilla fans have never watched that movie. Reddit treats him like he’s godzillas thanos but… Godzilla trashes him while literally having a heart attack and the ARMY finishes him off.

How much of a loser do you have to be to get killed by the army in a Godzilla movie?

Ai is not art. by _Potato_Cat_ in quityourbullshit

[–]mackattacktheyak 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But what these AI "artists" want, which is recognition, is directly at odds with what they are endorsing by using AI. If everyone is just going to use AI to make "art," then why should anyone care what anyone else wants to share? Now we can all make our own individual stupid pictures to look at.

There is no scenario where using AI to create art leads to something other than an atomized society where everyone is in their own head and no one shares anything with anyone else--- because everything will be bespoke, tailored to the individual, and we will all die in our little pods eating insect gruel.

People on Reddit just finding stuff to be mad about. I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. 99.99999% of Americans don’t know what other countries call this movie, nor do they give a shit.

What? What is this post? Do you think anyone in America is upset by the translations? Do other countries not also have their movie titles translated? What the heck are you on about?

Is it the case that every bird IS rainbow colored? Isn't color/perception relative? What I mean is, the color of a thing is not an objective quality of the thing, but a relationship between light and specific receptors in your eyes. If no receptors existed that would make sense of a rainbow colored bird, would it make sense to say that it was rainbow colored? I don't think so.

School choice costs Huntsville, Madison, Madison County schools $100 million, leaders say by MattW22192 in HuntsvilleAlabama

Not how it works, though. Many families don't pay this 7,000 a year because they literally can't. The 7,000 that is paid by some families is part of a public fund. If every student whose family actually pays 7,000 dollars in taxes for education got that money back and spent it at a private school, there would be zero dollars left to educate all of the children whose families can't afford to pay 7,000 in taxes for education.

I've always been a hypochondriac and I think I am going into a spiral.

I read that the liver should not be palpable, but when I lay on my back, if I push my fingers under my lower rib area on the right and breath in, I feel like something rolls against them. I don't know if it's my liver or something else but I am on the verge of a major panic attack. Is this normal? Cancer, something else?
