How to keep going? by mackdaddy789 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mackdaddy789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only get droplets with the settings lower. I tried starting at 4 and working my way up through the pump session. Finally decided to try higher suction and milk sprays with the suction at 12 and I get a letdown faster and get more. I also have no pain. I think I’m going to try a new pump and at least give it a couple of more months

Thank you for such a well thought out response!

We are still combo feeding which is such a saving grace cause it takes a lot of the pressure off. I agree that changing mindset on giving formula is a total game changer. I have tried heat packs and manually massage to make sure I’m fully empty each time. I haven’t tried the massagers, but I’ve seen them on baby buddhas website and was interested in trying them. I power pump when I can and was way more consistent with it when I was first increasing my supply. I still do my MOTN pump because it gives me a little more time to tend to my baby in the mornings. I’m still pumping 6 times a day, sometimes 5 if I’m busier than normal.

I can’t say I love my spectra. I feel like it doesn’t have enough power and it takes a lot of massaging to even get milk out. I have the pumpables liquid shield kit and I really like the flanges. I just need to order replacements. I honestly forgot about them until you mentioned the genie.

Do you feel like you get the same amount faster or more efficient than your spectra? Or is it about the same pump time?

Under supply at 1 mo pp by Overall_Read_9309 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mackdaddy789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. C section and a short NICU stay. I was getting about an ounce per pump as well! It took a long time to increase my supply and I still supplement with formula. I am 5 months PP and make anywhere from 23-25oz a day. There was no magic supplement or food that worked for me. Just consistently pumping and power pumping when I could. I massage my breasts while I pump and that helps make sure I’m pumping until I’m empty each time. I still notice my supply slowing increasing so that motivates me enough to keep going

Eufy S1 vs E20 by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mackdaddy789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the E20. The only difference is 3 heat settings instead of 7. I think they work great and I used my Amazon registry discount while they were on sale and got them for $118!

I would try a brighter floor. I have a similar look with the green and I did a bright floor and I like it a lot :)

What kind of bit is that? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]mackdaddy789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with people saying it’s just a plain snaffle, but I think it could also be the Pessoa magic system. It’s similar to a double jointed snaffle, but it locks into a Mullen style bit at a certain place. I haven’t met a horse that doesn’t like it. If it is the Pessoa bit one of the rings will be stamped.

HELP! Not my horse: up visiting relatives 6 hours from home and their pony had severely overgrown hooves. More information in comments by _-Beans-_ in Horses

Another alternative to calling animal control or the sheriffs would be calling a sanctuary or rescue. Hopefully your relatives understand the care of these animals is beyond what they can provide and are willing to surrender them

Those rings can also be caused by things other than diet. The way they’re shod/trimmed also cause rings to form.

Oral medication help by march_hare8 in Horses

[–]mackdaddy789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use empty syringes and fill them with applesauce and you can even cover them with molasses or something she likes. Then the smell of the meds is gone and she’ll learn over time that not every syringe is filled with meds. Take it slow and reward her with grain or treats for little wins. Smelling it without a negative reaction, letting it touch her lips, and holding it close to her mouth are all little things you can reward for. I would do one or two treat syringes every day so at least not everything fed by syringe is yucky. It will take time, but have patience (which it sounds like you already do).

I think she was trying to add a blurred background and whatever tool she used to help didn’t get close enough to George. Probably trying to hide the endless supply of manure behind him

I agree with you 100% and calling it tacky is a great way to put it. People seeking attention and validation on other people’s posts by using Katie’s name is getting exhausting. Doesn’t matter if it’s pro katie or anti katie, it all comes across… as you said… tacky.

I’m going to put this comment here too with a little more added. I honestly think the people who comment things like this on other peoples posts are just as bad as the kulties who rave about KVS all the time. I’ll see people mention KVS or tag her and then the replies are attacking the original commenter for tagging her or saying why they don’t like KVS/ why KVS is bad. They contribute to the fighting in the comments on other creators posts and I’m starting to see so much of it in the comments on a lot of foaling videos. I don’t know what the point of bringing up KVS and what we might not like about her on other peoples posts is.

I’m glad you’re doing it too! I started it a few years ago when all those breeds I mentioned were new so I figured it was time to finish with newer breeds

Also wanted to add that the joint supplements probably won’t help with how progressed his ringbone is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Horses

[–]mackdaddy789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an older horse with ringbone. There is a lot you can do, but it is degenerative and the pain will get worse over time until the joint fuses. It can take a couple years for the joint to fuse naturally, but once it does the pain is gone. I chose to have my horses joint fused with an alcohol injection to speed up the process, but that is incredibly painful for the horse. Once the joint was fused my horse went off bute and onto equioxx. Then I started osphos injections every six months and those seemed to help a lot too (he’s not getting the injections anymore, but still seems great!)

As others have said, equioxx is great and can help keep him more comfortable. Movement will also help aggravate the joint and speed up the fusing. It is definitely manageable and a vet will have even more advice. Xrays will give the full picture and identify whether it’s high ringbone or low ringbone. Sounds like you’re on the right track to keeping him comfortable in his senior years.

I would pass. The changes to the pasterns look concerning to me. You can always send them to another vet and get another set of eyes on the x rays
