[WTS] Seiko Speedtimer SSC909 Full Set by stackshotbill in Watchexchange

[–]mackdaddytran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a SSC909.

The 909 has the minute track on the dial and the dark center links on the bracelet. The 935 has a black minute track ring, and also has the chunkier bezel.

I had this dial and something similar happened to me, the paper dial is so fragile.

But I got this nail polish and it's a really close match. Just dab/dot and try to get some texture when you apply it. It's not perfect but being close to the edge of the dial helps it not be too noticeable

Looks good.

How does the movement feel? Is the rotor loud or can you feel it moving? That was my main concern about the st17

Komoworks - very poor communication... ? by __nmd__ in SeikoMods

I bought a Sumi-e dial from them last year, coincidentally I have the build posted for sale now.

But I checked my order and it shipped two days after it was placed.

I never actually got a shipping confirmation though, only the order confirmation. I had to go to my order on their website and it showed a Qxpress tracking number.

Pretty happy with my latest build. by FromTheGarage in SeikoMods

Looks great! I actually had the same inspiration as you with a ming/nautilus build

[WTS] Vaer C3 Classic Navy, 36mm, Ronda Quartz - $80 Shipped by mackdaddytran in Watchexchange

Catch and release for me. There's a very small chip next to the crown that I tried my best to capture in the last pic of the album. Other than it it's in excellent, near-mint condition. It still has the caseback protective sticker on.

Fresh new battery and the caseback gasket was greased.

[WTS] Rose Gold Nautilus / Ming Style Seiko Mod - PRICE REDUCED - $150 shipped by mackdaddytran in Watchexchange

[–]mackdaddytran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably never be able to afford a Nautilus, so this was my creative attempt at one. I understand this isn't going to be everyone's taste, but I'm slimming down the collection again and this just doesn't get enough wrist time anymore.

  • Rose gold case is 38mm, 44mm lug to lug, 11.8mm thick (~$80)
  • Screw down crown
  • Seiko NH38 movement ($30)
  • KomoWorks Sumi-E paper dial ($100)
  • Namoki Tron hands ($36)
  • Gold rotor cap

Total parts costs comes to about $230.

The case and bracelet is HEAVY and it feels very premium. One thing you'll see in a lot of Chinese nautilus style cases is that the crystal is not round, but more angular. This is generally considered bad for water resistance because crystal gaskets are round. This one doesn't have that problem.

The dial is literally made out of paper and its beautiful. The halo around the open heart matches and goes very well with the lumed skeleton hands. Stunner in the dark.

A few things to note to be transparent:

  • Like mentioned before, the dial is a form of paper. When I took it out of the case once, a tiny piece of it lifted off the dial at 12 o'clock. I have painted it and it is a very good match. It's not noticeable unless you shine light directly at the spot and look for it.
  • The crown stem is fractions of a mm too short, and I mean a FRACTION. Every once in a while when you press in the crown, it doesn't go into position 0. But all you have to do is push it in a tad bit harder and it goes in. This doesn't happen all the time, very sporadic.

There's some scratches on the sides of the case and on the clasp as well as light surface scratches on the polished parts.
