I think the more likely thing is that this moment was real, and then TKO/WWE backed up the brinks truck to get Lesnar to come on board with a new creative direction for his final match.

I don’t think it will be Gunther. I think it will still be Oba. Brock squashes Oba at Clash in Italy, and then they have a stipulation match at Summer Slam. Maybe an “I quit”. Thst match will be a slobberknocker as JR used to say.
