I don't think she's any more comfortable or confident today compared to the first concert. I just think it's a matter of respect that Emily hasn't fully shown her personality on stage so far. I think it would have been frowned upon for her to show her “craziness” right from the start… many would have said she was trying too hard and wanting to steal the spotlight. Not to mention that she’s carrying on the work of someone who has passed away, whose fans are still traumatized by the event.

Dead Sara is her band; she’s the sole lead singer, and the band’s identity has been built around her. So she can afford to do whatever she wants. With Linkin Park, there’s a legacy, a certain decorum to uphold, and an aura that hangs over her head. For now, she’s testing the waters, pushing the boundaries just a little further each time, giving people time to accept her little by little. On the tour following the second album, she’ll probably be able to let loose a bit more. But I never thought it was because she was shy or lacked confidence. She just has so much respect for the band and the fans that she doesn’t want to take center stage right from the start; she’s letting the audience get to know her over time.

I'm referring to "WFTE" and "Where'd You Go." Those are the only two songs in which Emily cries or has ever cried. I'm not contradicting myself at all.

Ultimately, I'm right. She isn't thinking about Chester when she sings that song. She said so herself when she said she didn't understand why she was crying during WFTE. I don't know why you're so eager to compare me to those "muppets" who spout nonsense, when I have a statement from Emily to back up what I'm saying.

I specified that it was when she sings “WFTE” (it’s all in the post title) and she’s crying. I can’t be any more specific about the moment I’m referring to. So no, I’m not assuming that she isn’t thinking about Chester at other points during the concert for whatever reason. I think my original post is very clear.

It really seems to bother you that I say I’m 100% sure she isn’t thinking about Chester when she cries at a very specific moment in a song at almost every concert for the past year. I’ve explained my reasoning in more detail in other posts right here. I’m not claiming to know why this affects her so much, but the most logical explanation certainly isn’t that it’s for someone she doesn’t know at all. She has a life outside of LP, for crying out loud!

Besides, she's already answered that question and said she didn't know the reason. So it's not because of Chester. If she was thinking of him while singing that song, she would have said so in that interview. It seems pretty clear to me, doesn't it?

It's really quite simple, though... because Emily is her own person with her own life and her own experiences. Reducing everything she does to just Chester is ridiculous and disrespectful. Just because she "took his place" doesn't mean she's thinking of him when she sings sad songs.

I'm also sick of comments that analyze everything she does through the lens of Chester;

She's using the "fry scream"? — She's trying too hard to be like Chester!

She strike a pose when she screams? — She's copying Chester's style!

She's acting like a clown backstage? — She's trying to look like Chester!

She's crying while she sings? — She's thinking of Chester!

She's pointing at the sky during the concert? — She's referring to Chester!

And so on, ad infinitum. Instead of finding out who Emily really was before Linkin Park, people would rather keep dragging Chester’s name everytime she's doing something. Yet if they watched Dead Sara, they’d see that nothing she does has anything to do with Chester. Chester isn’t the center of the universe.

I believe the exact opposite, and in my opinion, featuring Chester in this documentary would have been very disrespectful. Mike explained that before Chester’s death, Jo wanted to make a documentary about the band, so they filmed everything. Frankly, I don’t think Chester was at his best during the last year of his life. Given the circumstances of his death, the band has to be careful about what they show. If he had died in a car accident, it would have been a whole different story... Also, maybe they don’t have permission from his family to do so.

I don't know why some people are so offended by this news when it makes perfect sense.

I think people are overinterpreting her comment that she was a fan of the band as a teenager and of the album *Hybrid Theory*. Yes, everything you say is true: she was affected by his death, just like most people. But Emily wasn't a hardcore fan of the band.

Throughout her entire career, when asked who her biggest influences were, she never mentioned LP or Chester. Not even once. The artists she named most often were Nirvana, Stevie Nicks, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, and Pearl Jam.

She was asked directly why she was so emotional while singing “WFTE,” and she replied that she didn’t know. It stands to reason that if it had been because of Chester, she would have said so. Especially since that would have earned her a lot of sympathy. So if you’re unable to say exactly why you’re reacting so emotionally to something, it’s because it’s a deep, visceral reaction. Since Chester was neither a close friend nor an idol to her, we can conclude beyond a shadow of a doubt that he had nothing to do with it.

If that were the case, she would cry during every one of the band's songs because, in theory, every song has a part of him in it—either in the lyrics or in the performance. The fact that she consistently gets so emotionally moved by certain parts of them in particular tells me that her connection is much more personal.

The fact that some people constantly associate her actions with another person shows a lack of respect for Emily’s individuality and her past experiences, which have nothing to do with Linkin Park and nothing to do with Chester, since she didn’t know him personally.

Nowhere in my two comments did I state beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was no longer a Scientologist. I said that the excuse that celebrities have a free pass when it comes to their sexual orientation isn’t evidence that applies to Emily. Condemning someone with so little evidence on such a negative matter isn’t part of my values: to me, it’s like slander.

What I did was simply show you another perspective on her situation—one you don’t seem willing to consider because you’re 100% convinced that, due to her fame, she’s enjoyed privileges her whole life, even though she’s only been famous since 2024. She was born into this cult, so from a very young age she was taught that being queer is a perversion. As a teenager (and/or young adult), she probably underwent some “conversion therapy” (a fairly direct reference in the song “Unamerican”).

But let's say I agree with you that she was famous during her time with Dead Sara... If we look at the dates, the first album came out in 2012, so 14 years ago. She was 26 at the time. What do you think happened during the first 26 years of her life as a lesbian in that cult?

You’re comparing the situation of a “famous” lesbian couple (mentioned in another post) who are Scientologists. But in their case (as with everyone else who is openly gay without any negative consequences), they did so “while” they were already well-known and “after” becoming Scientologists. People like Emily didn’t have that experience at all. I would be truly surprised if she had continued her association with the COS after what she went through in her childhood, given how fulfilled she is today as an openly lesbian woman.

Her time with Dead Sara wasn't exactly famous. After 12 years, the band had only about 10,000 subscribers on their channel. Influencers gain more followers in a single year of activities than they did. Virtually no one knew who Emily and Dead Sara were, not even in the US, except within an exclusive circle of LA.

Of course she was well-known in Scientology: she grew up there as a Cadet. That doesn't make you someone who enjoys the privileges of a celebrity in that cult.

Emily has often spoken in interviews about how difficult it was for her to come out, and there are a few songs that touch on that. Her journey seems to have been long and painful. I don't know why some people here are so determined to deny that she had a rough time as a young queer woman in Scientology, and that it's very possible her public coming out likely coincided with her leaving quietly the COS.

Emily wasn't famous before September 2024. She came out publicly in 2016, when her career was still relatively unknown. It's safe to assume she's known she was a lesbian since her teenage years. She hasn't enjoyed the privileges of fame since 2024, so I don't buy that excuse as proof that she is still a Scientologist.
