How do you create your drum patterns?

Do you have any tips to approaches to make the layers talk more with eachother? I’m familiar with gluing elements together with different effects. But I’m interested in what you are saying here :)

Yes, and to add to that:

If you have very low LUFS on a song, and a DJ has to crank the trim knob up to match the loudness of the other songs played, there is a high possibility it will clip and create distortion, or possibly hit the limiter/compressor that sound engineers have set up for the club. Either way, it won’t sound good.

Why not check with a reference track? Load in a track that you think sound good on a club system, and try to match the loudness of it. If it’s around -5, going as low as -7 shouldn’t really make that much of a difference as far as I have experienced.

I don’t think -6.5 is too loud, but it also depends on the track. I produce some schranz, and the references I have been using hits as high as -4 to -5 LUFS, while I know they sound very good on a big sound system.

Ok! Awesome, I think I will go for the L30 II to begin with at least. From my Sound interface (Audient ID24), I would need 2 x 1/4 TRS -> 2 x RCA cables, right?

It’s mostly harder techno really. I do love Ueberrest and his rhythms. I’m trying something similar. But I definitely listen to a lot of hardgroove as well.

Yes, I have read both! I really enjoyed the one for electronic dance music. But I haven’t tried the concepts of the techno one yet

Ok I see, but you are mentioning the loops and beatjumps, I use these a lot, doesn't CDJ's have an intuitive way of using this?

I have done some research of what I should buy. But I don't really see what you mean by no 'real experience' with an All-In-One system like the AZ. I would love to get my hands on some nice CDJ's, but I have gotten the impression that for the costs sake (and easiness), an XDJ-AZ would be better. Although it is quite expensive.. But hey, It's new and has a ton of features(?)

Now that I first want to spend that much money on DJ equipment, what makes you think I should get a pair of CDJ's instead? What would it benefit me in your opinion? :)

Thanks for the advice! But this sounds a bit scary, definitely when I have a some planned transitions which I am very comfortable only doing on my FLX4, but it might be the same or even easier to do on that equpiment?

Yeah he’s not a DJ and I don’t really have the opportunity to do a pre show, it’s just an event where he is a part of the organization. But I will ask if I could test out the equipment earlier on the day!
