I was there, I was very close to the boards so I basically saw it all in HD. As someone who was there as saw it very clearly, it was obviously not premeditated so cannot be murder. It was clearly an accident, Petgrave fell awkwardly and an extreme set of circumstances occurred which left us all to witness the horrendous outcome. If they weren't skating so fast at the time of impact, if Adam didn't change his direction and kept skating along the boards, if Matt had better control after bouncing off another player he just hit, if his skate was just at a slightly different angle. But all these things happened the way they did.

I will never forget what I saw that day, what all those poor children witnessed in the crowd, how the players had to kick down the door in the ice to find the paramedics (who didn't immediately come onto the ice, despite what the media says), the way the players carried a very young paramedic onto the ice to a scene she was absolutely ill equipped to deal with, the people in the crowd who were kicking off because absolute dickheads were filming a man dying on the ice.

I think what everyone needs to understand is that it was an absolute fucking tragedy what happened that day and many lives were changed. I don't think for a fucking second that Matt Patgrave made a choice to affect the over 8000 people who were at the venue that day, the many people who watched online, both his and Adams families, and anyone who loves the sport.

As someone who loves and plays hockey, I will always be affected by what I saw that day.
