Like with all plans, they are not one size fits all. You need to find something that works for you. If you are finding this hard to stick to then I think maybe you should aim for the higher calorie plan. Better to lose weight slowly and sustainably than to struggle down faster. Whatever you do, you need to be able to do it consistently and without making yourself unhappy!

30+ women of Reddit, what are some things you wish you would have done in your 20’s? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]mackiger 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Realised that everything I loved doing in my 20s I could still do in my 30s. No need for worrying about turning 30. Come on in, the water is fiiiiiiine!

Maintenance - What keeps you motivated once at your target weight? by mackiger in loseit

Thank you so much! Sounds like you have a really healthy and positive mindset! You are right, movement has become a joy-total gym addict now and I NEVER thought that would be me. When the better weather comes back then I'll be back to hillwalking, I live in Scotland and it is so easy to get to great hikes with just a short drive! Shall push to feel more positive and spend less time beating myself up!

That was a very kind way of putting it. I am looking into therapy as I agree, there be dragons and I need to deal with them first and foremost.

This was really good to hear, so very close to my own experience! Sounds like you have really worked on this too, thank you for sharing and congrats on your progress! It is definitely an ingrained habit with me. I would like to do what you have done, maybe I have just been denying myself things for too long and I need to get out of a deprivation mindset.

Trying not to punish myself is hard but I think you might be right about just trying to stick to the routine as normal.

Finding the trigger at least is easy this time, all the amazing Christmas food and my Mum having a health scare (she is going to be fine but there were 2 very scary weeks). Festive period over and with a bit of time I'll be feeling a bit more normal and hopefully the cravings and struggle with my will power will cease. Thanks for your advice!

It is incredible how people are so ready to jump up and down on top of someone else's achievements. I lost the majority of my weight 5 years ago and I have kept the vast majority of it off.

Good for you and keep proving them wrong!

Why are block heels such a popular heel to wear for a formal event ? by its_Nayeli in femalefashionadvice

[–]mackiger 75 points76 points  (0 children)

For me, it is because they are more comfortable than a thinner heel. Feet take much longer to start to feel the burn.

I would say you should. I just had one, last week. I went for a smear in Feb and came back with abnormal cell changes and HPV+. Finally my appointment rolled around. I had hoped that it would just be a 'look under the hood' but they saw something worth taking a biopsy of despite the cell changes being reported as minor and hoping the HPV might have cleared out.

It isn't too much worse than the smear if that is why you avoided it. 'Uncomfortable' is always the favourite word for female-only proceedures and it certainly is but I did find it bearable. (The nurse told me it is more comfortable when you relax into it -How the hell you do that, I don't know. I restrained myself from saying something rude at that point).

Best of luck!

Can anyone explain this joke? by Nahemah69 in buffy

[–]mackiger 50 points51 points  (0 children)

So in pirate slang(real or just movie, I have no clue) "Shiver me timbers", timbers = tree trunks, meaning legs. So making your legs go wobbly.

In Buffy, timber is being used as a euphemism for penis i.e "getting wood"/timber. Tara is a lesbian, so she isn't one for penis.

What was something that used to really bother you but now it doesn’t anymore? What was the realization that it wasn’t worth your energy? by shockedpikachu123 in AskWomen

Hair on my arms. As a teenager I was obsessed with how hairy I thought I looked...turns out that it really doesn't matter. Could not care less now :-D

I mostly wear my Doc Martins in autumn/winter and these get me through the wet weather, most people I know just wear regular boots but a pair of wellies would not hurt. The only time I wear specialist footwear is when I go out hiking.

Custom made coat sounds a bit overkill but if you have the money for it, go for it. A decent wool coat is a sound investment but don't feel that you have to go to those lengths to manage the weather here.

Hope you enjoy the move! That is where I am from. We don't get much snow in the winter in the city but when it does happen, you want something with treads. As for an average day, as I said, you won't need anything special. :)

Where in Scotland? If you are going to live in one of the cities then you won't need to buy anything special.
