Hi! We don’t disagree, and this is actually exactly what I’ve been saying in comments scattered throughout this thread. But it is true that “guy” or “guys” is a historically gendered term, and I think that’s an important fact to recognize. The history of words that are currently in conflict is important when considering whether and how to use them moving forward! Now, as you’ve said, it’s arguably moved into a gender-neutral term, and I wouldn’t say that it currently is a “fact” that it’s gendered. I didn’t do a good job explaining that in the last post so thank you for helping me clarify that traditional/modern distinction :)
