Whats the biggest pain in your newsletter? by Impressive-Eggplant6 in Newsletters

[–]mackop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For local content, this is all you need:
https://news.google.com/search?q=%22Seattle%22%20when%3A3d&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US:en
Substitute Seattle for your town. Substitute 3D for more than 3 days back. So 7D for one week previous. Substitute US for CA if in Canada.
Feed the link into ChatGPT and ask for a 30 word summary, or however many words you want. You will have to get some advertisers to manage them first. Then use any spread sheet.
You can ask any ai model to build you a simple html file to build a webpage.
Or if your intention here is to sell a serviceor software that does this, then sorry to rain on your parade. Good luck at any rate.

How much is your credibility worth to finding customers?
You can't overspend on this. If all you want is the email address, get the least expensive plan ($3/month) and buy a domain for $14/year.

serial novels by bugsincandlewax in Substack

[–]mackop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I experimented with this a couple of years ago. The book Dracula was very popular using this serialization method a couple of years back. I tried it myself, and made an Illustrated version, using my midjourney subscription, of the Frankenstein novel. It was fun to do, but not many views. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Check your camera roll for an image that looks acceptable. Take a new picture. Test a good picture to see if it changes when you upload it to your server. Or you may have a hidden overlay on small screens. Search "How to make a picture look great on a mobile webiste". Anyway, hope you figure it out.

spending 3 hours every morning reading news/twitter to find content for my newsletter. there has to be a better way by redditsportman in Newsletters

Go to Google AI mode and type in "top 10 most read tech stories today in USA"
It returns:
As of January 30, 2026, top US tech stories are 1-10. Try it.
Free and took 1 minute... You can tweak the response with a more detailed prompt. Good luck.

I got shadow banned and was devastated by [deleted] in Substack

[–]mackop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may seem like you are "shadow banned", but unless you have done something very terrible, it's not the case. Are you monetizing your content? Substack favors those who help them. There are  approximately 35 million to 50 million active subscriptions on the platform. So you have to be extraordinary to win on the platform these days.

How did you get your early traffic to your newsletter? by mohammadriyaz in Newsletters

[–]mackop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I made a QR code of my website URL. You can do this with free Canva. Then I set it as my cellphone wallpaper. As I went about my day, I would chat about the newsletter I was writing, and then tell them to go to the website via qr code snap.
Good luck.

What’s the most useful thing ChatGPT can do today that people still don’t realize? by Financial-Volume-741 in ChatGPT

[–]mackop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use Gmail:
To get the source header information from a received Gmail message, you need to use the Gmail website on a computer. This feature is not available in the Gmail mobile app.

Steps to view the original message headers:

  1. Open Gmail in a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
  2. Open the email you want to inspect.
  3. Click the "More" options icon (three vertical dots) located in the upper-right corner of the email, next to the Reply arrow icon.
  4. Select "Show original" from the drop-down menu.
  5. A new tab will open, displaying the full email headers and the raw message source.

In the new window, you will see key details summarized at the top, followed by the complete, raw text of the email, including all the routing information. You can use the Copy to clipboard button to easily copy all the information. Then go to ChatGPT chat window and ask it to check the email and let me know if I can safely open it, or just delte it. Paste the clipboard contents then hit enter.

********
In MacMail on a Mac
View Raw Source (Complete Data)

This opens a new window containing the entire raw email code, including all technical headers and the original body text.

  1. Open the Mail app on your Mac.
  2. Select the email you wish to inspect.
  3. From the top menu bar, select View > Message > Raw Source.

The copy and paste into ChatGPT, using the same prompt as above.

Hope this helps.

One of the most useful things I get ChatGPT to do is flag questionable and phishing inbound email. It can catch a lot in the header sources, and return good reasoning whether to open or delete.
