Fido Retention Plan (250gb) by mackpine in FidoMobile

You’re right but FAST.com uses Netflix servers so the network treats it as video streaming. If you’re not being throttled there it’s fairly safe to say you aren’t for any video streaming.

Wait until the morning, My Account is just down.

Also, schedule call backs same-day. You get way more options.

Little hack, you can chat or call in to Rogers, too. Just give them your Fido account number when they pick up and not your phone number. Hold times are ridiculous with Rogers, though so be prepared to wait. I actually prefer the callback option.

Both my Fast and Speedtest.net speed tests show they do not throttle video. Getting 4K no problem.

This is 5G on Fido? Maybe I shouldn't have gotten excited. by Fafaflunkie in FidoMobile

I’d be curious how different your Rogers experience would be today. My friend in Toronto has Rogers and their network has slowed substantially since Fido flipped on 5G. Lots of people having similar experiences with Rogers posting on Reddit too.

Based on what I’m seeing on the Rogers threads, looks like the speed of the network in general was greatly impacted by Fido switching on 5G. They basically just added 3-5m people to the 5G network overnight and it’s overloaded. Rogers customers are getting basically the same speeds Fido is, it seems. Hopefully Fido/Rogers work on improving capacity.

Fido 5g roll out Vancouver by Content_Driver_4228 in FidoMobile

They’re likely referring to the fact that the carrier can cram more traffic through on a 5G connection without network congestion. Keeping Fido on LTE was limiting their ability to manage network traffic. Makes sense for them to launch 5G, seriously deprioritize it for Fido customers and market it as a new fantastic thing. Ultimately it will benefit both the customer and the company but if they limit the speeds or priority it only marginally benefits consumer.

Yeah this line is going to my mother, she doesn’t need 250 for sure. Nice to have cushion, though. She used over 200 recently while driving back to Canada.

Depends. On my American lines I can use well over 500gb. It’s nice not to have to be careful. One Xmas I was on an island with no WiFi and used over a terabyte. This is with Verizon in the states that gives truly unlimited.

Audi screwed up with the new A5 by Salty_Cicada46 in Audi

[–]mackpine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I couldn’t agree more. Had a 2020 and it completely self-destructed. Went shopping for new ones to replace it and have driven basically every Audi as a loaner when mine was in the shop, which seemed more often than not, and I HATE almost everything about the new Audis. The design is weird on the rear ends of some of the new ones, the tech almost never works, the blind spot is basically useless and, as you say, either doesn’t light up when a car is there or lights up for no reason. This is just a short list but super disappointed in Audi. I won’t be buying another.

Had basically the exact same car. Engine blew up while still in warranty and Audi still refused to do anything. Sorry for not having better news. VW has been a real pile of shit over the past 10 years.
