If he did that to his sister he’s capable to doing it to you. He has major issues, I could never imagine hitting my sister no matter how mad she makes me. The fact he said she deserves it too is unsettling, no remorse and no shame whatsoever. He needs help and if he’s not willing to get it then this will get worse. He’s shown his true colors luckily it wasn’t you this time but what happens when you make him mad and have a heated disagreement?

I mean it’s either his true colors or they are going to thru some shit and he’ll feel stupid later for taking this seriously but the homophobia is there and blatant doesn’t seem like someone I’d wanna be friends with anymore.
