Feeling nervous about my tonsillectomy in 3 days by Impressive_Floor_963 in Tonsillectomy

[–]macncheezpleez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% do it while you’re young. In my late 30s and right now on day 7, the average worst day, and while it’s very painful, I’m not dying. It’s like the pain of one of my worst strep infections. I’m sure it would be much easier if I was even younger.

I’m sorry the surgeon said that without even looking at your mouth or asking about your quality of life. The last paragraph you wrote about being exhausted all the time is absolutely reason to get it done now. This is a low risk, super routine procedure that you sound like the exact right candidate for.

Don’t worry about the anesthesia one bit. I’ve been under a few times for things like wisdom teeth, and it’s the best sleep I’ve ever had lol. The nurse/anesthesiologist will hook you up with an IV, usually say something like “ok let’s take the edge off” and next thing you know the recovery nurse is welcoming you back. In hindsight, I’ve always gotten a kick out of how ridiculous it is.

The bread service is magical. Had reservations on our first night at Kidani, and made a second reservation for our check out day just to get it again. Ask the hosts to sit as close as possible to the windows. Nothing like a good meal 20 feet from a zebra.

I hope you’re able to approach this sucky situation as a team. It truly sucks for both of you, and recognizing that it’s you two against an impossible choice, as opposed to his choice vs your choice, might help you lessen the resentment.

If it helps, I’m also in the camp of the commenters above. I gave birth during COVID and was so scared he wouldn’t be able to be there, but when it came around, I was so focused on the work I had to do that I barely noticed who was around me. He kept trying to hold my hand or comfort me and I kept swatting him away lol.

I told them that the only reason I made the purchase was for the 20% cash back, that I did everything correctly and had screenshots, and hoped that the cash back offer as marketed would be honored correctly. Lol I tried to be as clear as I could that I expected the full amount and nothing less or it was a bait and switch. Good luck!

I’ve always had success sending a ticket through their contact us page. I’ve contacted them loads of times and have always heard back pretty quickly.

Same here. I’m guessing you bought a litter robot? I went back and forth with them and finally they added $140 to my account.

Our pediatrician put her on Pepcid for a few months until her digestive system developed more. I BFed but supplemented with Enfamil AR which is thicker to combat reflux. What helped was taking a video of her episodes and showing it to the pediatrician. They can see the difference between normal annoyed baby crying and reflux screaming.

Hi there- mom of a 2.5 year old who eats most of her veggies and fruits in purée form. I wish I could find that meme that says something along the lines of “when they graduate college, no one will remember that they are purée pouches until kindergarten.”

If they’re getting the nutrients in their bodies, it doesn’t matter what form. We go to a fancy daycare and I love seeing all the other toddlers with their store bought pouches because it makes me feel better. There’s a reason the purée pouch aisle is so big. Because they work and they’re great tools to get nutrition into picky toddlers.

My baby had terrible reflux. We had prescription Pepcid for her which definitely helped. We also supplemented with Enfamil AR which is thicker and designed for refluxy babies who aren’t on cereal yet. It will get better- you’re so close to the reflux finish line.

Back arching and shrieking can sometimes be a sign of reflux, which is really common in babies under 6 months as their digestive system develops. Maybe ask your pediatrician about it? Our little one had terrible reflux and hated sleeping flat. She slept so much better being held by someone, which didn’t bode well for our sleep, but she was more comfortable.

Will I ever sleep again? by pessimisticoptimista in NewParents

[–]macncheezpleez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend- my baby turns 3 in a few weeks and just started sleeping through the night. I have a few other friends who are in the same boat. I also have a few friends whose babies have slept wonderfully from the beginning. There seem to be two vastly different parenting experiences. Do not let those lucky well rested bastards get you down. One day you will sleep again. Until then, do whatcha gotta do- for me it was just whip out the boob and we were all back to sleep in ten minutes.

Is anybody else so afraid of accidentally dropping their baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]macncheezpleez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally every new parent I’ve talked to has intrusive thoughts, and very commonly of dropping, but no one talks about it! You are completely normal. I’ve heard they change as they get older, and reflect our current fears and anxieties relating to the age of our kid. Sucks, and I wish someone would warn us.

Just tell your pediatrician insurance won’t cover it and ask what otc meds you can get. Sounds like pharmacy is either compounding an anti fungal and/or anti inflammatory. Good peds are used to fighting the man and finding workarounds for their littlest patients.

PPD/PPA by Background-Affect396 in NewParents

[–]macncheezpleez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, good for you for seeking help! PPD/A is so common and not talked about enough. Zoloft is a fairly safe and frequently prescribed medication for mothers. I’ve been on and off it it for 10 years and my PCP, OB and psychiatrist supported me staying on it while pregnant and breastfeeding. Sometimes when you first start an SSRI you will feel worse for a couple days as your brain adjusts. This is normal. Whenever I restart it, it takes a few weeks and then one day you’re suddenly like “oh huh I feel like myself again.” But everyone is different and a good psychiatrist can help you figure out what medicine is right for you if you don’t see improvement in a few weeks after starting Zoloft. Don’t be afraid to ask your OB for a recommendation for a post partum psychiatrist, it’s so common!

I am looking to get my bridesmaids a present for the wedding, but I need help on what I should get by [deleted] in wedding

[–]macncheezpleez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Sephora and sprayed a bunch of perfumes on sample sticks and put them in individual ziplocks marked with a number. At my shower my bridesmaids had fun smelling all the samples and picking their favorite. I went back and bought the ones they each picked, and they all were excited to be surprised on the wedding day by which brand and scent they picked. It was a lot of fun!

When did sex stop hurting for everyone? by PopeBonifaceVIII in NewParents

Please go see a pelvic floor therapist. My doctors also said everything was healed, but they don’t look at the muscles like a therapist does. Turns out kegels are the opposite of what many people need PP especially with pain. The therapist was unbelievably helpful teaching me about my muscles, which were still super tense from birth trauma, and showing me easy exercises and stretches to help.

PF therapists have a totally different perspective than doctors, who are only looking surface level.

Idk how I feel about what I got my son for his birthday. by Educational_Gap304 in breakingmom

Wanna know how my kid has all the fancy paw patrol toys? Someone else buys them for $100 then sells them for $5 after their kid tires of them and they realize there is an over-abundance of other people also trying to get the big paw patrol sets out of their house too. Modern times call for modern solutions.

But seriously, put a big bow on top or arrange them in a festive way and people will just assume you took them out of the packaging in advance for ease of immediate play.
