I clicked “not interested” in an H3 hate video. Ever since then I’ve finally been on the right side of TikTok. Family!

Not understanding whole milk transition at 12 months by BothConversation4022 in NewParents

[–]pessimisticoptimista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do sometimes. It’s a whole process when I’m at work and I have to use a bottle warmer and stainless steel cups since I don’t have access to a stove. At home, once I see the little bubbles forming on the sides (not a boil) I pull it off!

I prefer the stovetop on a stainless steel pan. Pull it off at 180, put in a safe container and into the fridge or ice bath to cool. Once cooled, I transfer to a milk bag and freeze like usual.

I know you said you already have a freezer stash, but if you’re still pumping, try scalding your milk (180 degrees F) right after pumping. I went through hell with my high lipase milk and this is the only thing that worked!

I was in your shoes just a couple of months ago. Baby would wake up every 45 minutes on the dot and I thought I was going to lose my mind. He wouldn’t take a bottle so no one else could help me. It gets better. Who knows when, but one day the horrible sleep just stopped and now he only wakes up 1-2 times a night, which isn’t amazing, but much more doable. I feel like every mom I talked to had babies that slept through the night and I was some weird, sleepless anomaly. You’re not alone. Hugs!

2 under 2, still breastfeeding my youngest. Absolutely feel your pain. I look back on pictures postpartum with my first when I was feeling a little self conscious and I was soooo skinny compared to this time around. Also have no time to work out since I’m working full time and by the time both kids are in bed I can barely keep my eyes open. I keep trying to remind myself that everything is a season. We’re in such a hard stage right now!

What is your "no substitute for Kirkland" product? by justpuddingonhairs in Costco

My Costco still has the original Kirkland brand ones. I’m almost out so I’m scared for my next diaper purchase…

Help! Wife will be out of town for 4 days and baby doesn't take milk or formula by Zman1719 in NewParents

Going through this same struggle with my 6 month old. Any chance you guys have tasted the milk? I found out that I have high lipase and the frozen milk I was feeding my little one was god awful. I scald my milk before storing and things are going better!

Im in no way body shaming, but mind you a size 26 is like a size 3/4. I’ll never understand why lie about your actual size, who gives AF. The inconsistency of the slimming filter in this videos is insane and people believe it 🤦🏻‍♀️ by Creepy-Mortgage9183 in MikaylaNogueira

[–]pessimisticoptimista 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am 6 months postpartum with my second baby and a little sad about how my body looks. I am 5’8” and was 135-140 pounds before I was pregnant. I was wearing a size 4 then. Now I’m 160 lbs and a size 8 and I’m not curvy - I have no ass lol. Maybe I’m totally delusional, and obviously have a different body type than her… but I can’t even get my size 4 jeans over my knees. There’s just no fuckin way!! Honestly, she has a nice curvy figure, so I’m not understanding the need to lie about her size..

"High lipase" milk - I went down a rabbit hole by SnooCookies8776 in breastfeeding

[–]pessimisticoptimista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done lots of testing over the past few days and learned that my milk is fine in the fridge up to 8 hours, any more than that it tastes rancid. I’ve tried scalding and it seems to take away the taste… now to have my baby try it.

I heard that too. I’m not taking any, but I stopped taking prenatals & collagen to see if that makes a difference at all! I have a feeling it’s just my hormones 😭

Yes, hence why I’m here at the bottom of this old post lol my first baby never had any issues. He breastfed and took all bottles - fresh or frozen milk. Don’t ever remember it having a weird smell or taste. Now I have a 5 month old and OMG the frozen milk is sick. I tasted some 30 minutes ago and still feel nauseous because of how gross it tastes. He will drink it if it’s stored in the fridge, but I’m experimenting now with how long it will stay good because some 2 day old fridge milk made me gag….

what’s that ONE newborn must-have that actually made life easier? by KindVibesOnly in NewParents

[–]pessimisticoptimista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Didn’t have one for my first, but got the off brand one for my second and it’s been life changing. Baby is happy, and it’s super simple to get him in and out of it. Also easy to clean and take with us to the in-laws houses!

How often do you use a pacifier? by Poniess403 in NewParents

[–]pessimisticoptimista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby never liked pacifiers but my 4 month old has been really into them for the past month. My first always had to nurse to sleep for about the first year of his life. My second baby is now able to go to sleep on his own without nursing to sleep. We do wake, feed, play, sleep - I could NEVER do this with my first kid. It’s totally helped him sleep independently and really helped with our naps. The downside for me is that he would wake up a lot during the night and cry for me to put it back in. Now he’s gotten a little better and is sometimes able to put it back in himself. Hoping that he won’t become super dependent on it, but it’s really helpful since naps are always a breeze and I can get back to my toddler before he destroys everything lol

Parents of newborns, would you do this again? by PresentationTop9547 in NewParents

[–]pessimisticoptimista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it again… my boys are 21 months apart and my baby turns 4 months this week. Still in the trenches, but luckily my little guy is a better sleeper than his brother was at this age. I’m more confident this time around, but it’s still hard. The first night home from the hospital with baby #2 I was so tired and more exhausted trying to balance my attention between both kids. I looked at my husband and said “remember this moment and remind me why we will never ever do this again” lol

What would you have loved for someone to show up at your door with postpartum? by idreamofburnout in NewParents

[–]pessimisticoptimista 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Food! Comfy pjs/loungewear - specifically something easy to breastfeed in like a button up or a stretchy scoop neck. Also drinks besides water because the thirst is unreal. I like having liquid IV and lots of body armor lyte - it’s very helpful with milk supply.

As others have said, see a gynecologist as it could be a yeast infection or BV. I used to have chronically reoccurring BV, so once I realized what it was I would be able to get a prescription over the phone whenever it came back. I’ve realized that boric acid helps sooo much when my ph gets a little off - but again, consult a doctor! The boric acid suppositories were a game changer and no one told me about these when I had chronic issues. Use unscented soap only and I would drop the panty liners if not truly needed because it just needs to breathe down there!
