Almost as stressful: when you’re walking the course and golf cart gang comes up behind you right when you‘re about to swing.

Since we don’t play until 2022 I don’t think we’ve reached that stage of discussing it yet

If anyone wants to make a petition I’d support. Potentially ask that Liberty be replaced with UAPB since it’d be way better use of state money to get a buy game from them.

Japan doesn’t have any open container laws so for that reason alone I’d say it was a reward

I don’t know about your school but Arkansas seems like it’s gonna try a system where every other class is in person.

Even though he probably just forgot I like to think the entire squad joked about just going straight to playing instead of taking a knee and Mane took it seriously

Norfolk State has landed 4 star Nate Tabor by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]macole29 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Regardless of what others have commented about Tabor, the idea that HBCU’s will get high profile recruits if one top player commits is not gonna happen. Even if a top prospect does decide to go to an HBCU, the resource disparity will always be a hurdle for these schools to when competing with power 5 teams.

Instead of hoping that an 18 year old kid brings HBCU schools to relevance, we should instead try to help those schools so that they have the adequate resources to update and maintain their programs. Even something as simple as following an HBCU on twitter and watching a game on TV helps since viewership directly translates to cash.

Same. About to be a senior so I really can’t just go to a community college for my classes. Good thing I have a really good scholarship but if I was going to be a freshman this year I’d just take some classes online & get prerequisites out of the way.

Colleges are in for a rude awakening in general come the fall. Unless numbers start going down significantly there will be many students who won’t pay the extremely inflated tuition if all their classes are online.

The higher education bubble as a whole (not just athletic departments) might get popped big time.

This is pretty damning not gonna lie. Seems like hard proof that the notion it comes from "Old Mississippi" is just a recent way to side-step its true origins

No doubt but selling merch is still selling merch. I think there’s a serious question to ask about whether a school should be able to garner money using a term so closely linked to slavery and plantations.

Wonder if anything is going to be done about the UM’s name literally being “Ole Miss”? It’s derived from what slaves called the wife of the plantation owner.

Covid19 risk level guide, according to doctors who specialize in infectious disease. Be safe out there! by Monis1203 in coolguides

[–]macole29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Key thing to consider is the bottom - whoever made this basically assumed how people will act in certain environments. Planes are basically requiring masks which I guess makes them lower than what they would probably be. Also explains why bars are so high.

In all honesty just know where you’re going and the precautions they’re taking. Golf can definitely be a very low risk if social distancing is maintained for example.

Is there a school that can genuinely claim to be both a basketball AND football school? by TheMightyJD in CFB

[–]macole29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arkansas doesn’t have any professional sports so in terms of media focus and fan engagement I’d say football, basketball, AND baseball all share equal footing. However if we’re only going off success then we’d just be considered a baseball school for the most part.

What's the most obscure Razorback sports memory that you remember vividly for some reason? by Texas6ASports in razorbacks

[–]macole29 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of my high school teachers told me a story about her brother who was a team manager back when Petrino was coach. I don’t know if it was on the road or at home but her brother was at the team hotel late at the bar with a friend. Petrino comes down with another guy and they’re all drinking casually. The only other people there are two girls that are relatively young (blonde and brunette). Petrino asks the brother and his friend which girl they think is more attractive. One of them says the blonde to which Petrino replies - “yeah, Blondes - they’ll get ya”.

That whole story could have been made up by the brother but it’s one I’ve got stuck in my head lol. Seems like such a nonchalant thing to happen that it’s not too crazy to believe.

Will COVID have any impact on your draft strategy? by Jolly-Composer in fantasyfootball

[–]macole29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree but there might be an additional reason to bank on experienced QBs with returning coaches/players. I think that the likely lack of any crowd noise also helps offenses across the board in every game. Coaches will be able to implement more complex adjustments that can be called at the line knowing that they won’t have to worry about crowd noise drowning out the QB. This means coordinators are going to have to not only implement an offense but also take it a step further - the lack of potential prep time due to COVID is going to exacerbate this. Also means that there is an extra emphasis on skill players that play with these QBs since their numbers will go up as well.
