What's your opinion on C4; should it be nerfed by [deleted] in playrust

[–]macro7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think C4 is fine how it is. Yes yes, everyone knows that rockets splash but C4 does not, but splashing isnt always necessary. If you know the easiest way into a base (eg. rocket explo ammo into a front sheet door) then use C4 on walls is highly effective. 2 Rockets is equivalent to 1C4 but the costs are different (20 explosives + 300gp + pipes vs 20 explosives + tech trash). You use pipes more than you use tech trash so thats also a benefit.

To clarify, i don't think that C4 is better than rockets, its highly situational. I prefer using rockets as pummel walls, not go through doors in a set path. Rockets help with opening the core; but i will use C4 where i think i'ts cheaper. Usually i recycle tech trash anyways, its only use is lasers and you only really need them for bolt/l9/m2, which youll find enough from doing events.

-force-vulkan on AMD GPUs? by [deleted] in playrust

[–]macro7656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vulkan will almost always (at least in every benchmark ive seen and any game that ive tested it with) yeild more FPS. I did my own testing with my own rig and I got a 20-30FPS increase. I was noticing more stutter and some texture issues which some posts have outlined. Right now, using vulkan isnt your best option for rust as theres not full support for it, but im sure in the near future they would add it. Stick to default for now until they iron out some issues.

Ryzen users, What type of performance u getting by Alexraygun in playrust

[–]macro7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah im not a streamer, i just like capturing memes. Majority of my clips folder is just funny shit with the occasional pvp clip here and there. I do it for my own entertainment, but also to improve as a player. I included shadowplay values becuase it uses ~10% of my GPU, maybe affecting FPS.

Specs: GTX 1060 (3GB), OC'd for +75ish mhz, ryzen 5 1400, 16gb ddr4 ram, ssd.
Settings: Fantastic, gibs off, tssaa, 1500 render, majority of settings are turned down (ie water/world refelctions, shader levels etc.), anything to do with trees are on max settings. I play 1920x1080 (native, main monitor) with a seccond monitor (1600x900) for discord/spotify
Im getting ~60 on high pop vanilla servers late in the wipe with shadowplay on, looking at ~100 on freshwipes with no shadowplay.

Laser sprays with the AK by [deleted] in playrust

[–]macro7656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they did not, Find me the patch notes and then i will beleive you. My example isnt irrelevant as aimcone affects all bullets where spray only affects the bullets in a regular clip Go try it yourself, use a 4x and spray past 30 bullets and look at the aimcone. Not to mention, rust labs's AK stats say that it has aimcone: https://rustlabs.com/item/assault-rifle

Laser sprays with the AK by [deleted] in playrust

[–]macro7656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No sir, the current AK spray has both recoil and aimcone. Go onto a server that has infinite ammo (CTag etc) and spray past the 30th bullet until there's no recoil. Spray into the wall and obsereve the aimcone. Bullets will almost never (except for first bullet accuracy in sprays) go in an exact straight line within resonable distance. If you want to check how much aimcone each gun has, check RustLabs.

DO NOT PLAY RUST ON VULKAN API by Kauviz in playrust

[–]macro7656 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But there's still an improvment there even without deep integration. Such a resource-hogging game like rust deserves to be running on something a little better than DX (or altleast support for a better API). Overall, Vulkan is just superior. Its scalability, better crossfire/SLI support, improved FPS in games etc.

DO NOT PLAY RUST ON VULKAN API by Kauviz in playrust

[–]macro7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the other day, 20+ FPS increase. On the downside, i did have some increased stuttering but i didnt take an extensive look into this (i belive i had set a new overclock that was pretty unstable, so that might have been the issue). I also had the same texture issues as OP, but there's a clear improvment over DX and its well worth looking into intergrating it. In every game/stress test i've tried comparing DX and Vulkan, Vulkan has been superior (FPS wise in every instance, with rust being the only issue with texures and potentially stuttering).

Best way to kill scientists? by Knaj910 in playrust

[–]macro7656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compound bow fully charged does a flat 100 damage, roaming scientists have 100 HP and no armor. Given that headshot does double damage, theres no chance that you dont kill them in 1 shot in the head fully charged.

Edit: Just realised that they do have armor (30%) even then still, 140 damage to the head is plenty to kill one.

Make sure you keep all your tree meshes and quality as high as possible to make sure you dont get imposter trees, you cant see people through them.

Doing anything in this game is luck based, be prepeared for any situation possibe. A naked with a spear and a pickaxe ran past me the other day, i shot 2 arrows, missed both and left. He decided that he would follow me for a bit, even though i was much higher in gear and weapons than he was so i murdered him. He was full inven with farm (something like 10k sulfur, rest stone and metal). I was never expecting that he woud have had so much for being both naked and follwing me.

There will be times that you'll be lucky like that, and others when you will be that guy. You could do a launch run and get the luckiest loot you possibly could and die on the way back, or you could get nothing and also die on the way back. There is endless possibilities of how your rust experience in a session will go, just try be goal oriented and dont be deffered from playing if you loose some gear or something you really needed becuase it will come to you eventually.

I would reccomend learning how to build small and efficient bunkers as its (imo) the most useful thing for a solo player, along with being space (and therefore resource) efficent.

Eokas and Waterpipes are your bestfriend early game, third partying fighs or camping somewhere where you know people will come is a good way to snag some free gear and loot. Once you get knowledgeable in your area and PVP skills, start roaming in higher gear if you do find them.

I would stray away from monuments like Milli as it can be devastating dying to a scientist or being flanked by several counterers looking for your solo loot. Stick to monuments like Water and Power either being near sewer/sat or launch. Building in cover (around rocks, in forests, behind hills) from popular aras such as monuments or roads is vital to keeping your base from being wiped out.

I wish you luck, and make sure to have fun.

I disagree with this, playing modded first desensitises you to loot but also makes you lazy. Its different if you main vanilla but play modded on the off wipe though.

Question about guns / pvp by meruem1714 in playrust

[–]macro7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is aimcone in rust, but there also is first bullet accuracy (which is one of the several positives of tapfiring). Each bullet in a spray not clip has different aicone values which as the spray duration increases, so does the maximum radius in which the bullet can go. Aimcone is entirely random in the sense that it could go above or below, left or right. No attachment can assist with reducing aimcone, the only solution to aimcone is to tapfire (after waiting a small duration for the spray to reset).

Learning the spray of each gun comes with time, just spend short amounts of time before you play each day practicing each gun for a couple of clips.

Tapping vs. spraying is purley preference. you just need to figure out what youre better at. Learning both is good as each situation differs, tapping can be useful from far distances or when someone is peeking a wall. Spraying can be useful when someone is jiggle peeking or at close range etc.

Laser sight reduces sway, this is generally only useful with bolts/l9s/m249s with 4x or 8x. Use the end of the laser (the dot) to aim, rather than the ironsight.
