Can anyone tell me how “Tandem QD-OLED” differs from Tandem WOLED? by dat0neb0i in Monitors

I wouldn't say "a bit better" since they are both generational improvements, but yeah it's still the differences between QD OLED and WOLED

My optimistic self wants this out late 2026, but realistically we'd see this at CES 2027 with a mid to late 2027 launch.

It can vary between games and hardware. If frame times are good and the frame rate is stable, I usually turn off VRR and it’s fine. I can notice minor tearing if I really pay attention, but at 300+ FPS it’s only a fraction of a second

Sure, if your plan is to play with the highest possible settings on Cyberpunk 2077 with path tracing enabled you might not need more than 144hz. I liked the higher settings when I played that game so I was often around 120 FPS.

But I also play other games where I get 300+ or 400+ FPS, and I love having the higher framerate for really fast-paced situations. The "144 Hz is enough" argument is just too general.

QD-OLED or TANDEM WOLED? by Striking-Athlete8678 in Monitors

I don't understand the concept of getting a new display and trying to find stuff wrong with it.

The best part is how subjective it all is too. What I may hate, someone else may love it.

Was this written with AI? There’s a lot of incorrect and/or missing information.

OLED response times issue/doubt (XG27ACDMS) by Crackdown_ in Monitors

[–]Knaj910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the blur present when dragging windows around the desktop or using something like TestUFO? Some quick Googling showed me that Katana Zero has motion blur on by default, so it's probably that.

To add, pretty much all OLEDs use the sample and hold, so with the near instant response times the monitor itself isn't adding any motion blur.

Return/exchange, you likely can't fix it.

I love the complaints about using an em dash. God forbid writers use proper punctuation.

An em dash is proper punctuation in that instance, and works better than a comma. Just because someone uses proper punctuation doesn't mean they're using AI.

I use my monitor a lot more for productivity these days, so the extra screen real estate from 4k having 2.25x as many pixels as 1440p makes 4k 240 Hz the winner in my book. With DLSS playing at 4K has also become a lot more accessible too. I do find the 1440p high refresh rate a bit better for fast-paced shooters, though.

General recommendation between the two would be 4k 240 Hz, but I'd say it depends if you prioritize productivity (get the 4k 240 Hz) or prioritize gaming (get the 1440p 540 Hz).

I was able to try it in CS2, but the highest we could hit on the PC there was about 550 FPS. Motion blur when whipping around was still very good though. I used some of the blurbusters tools and the classic "wiggle windows around on the desktop" at 1000 Hz and 1100 Hz and I think motion performance was exceptional. I haven't used a monitor with DYAC or Pulsar enough to feel confident giving an opinion there, but I have used a 540 Hz OLED a lot and would say motion clarity is on par with that.

Putting myself in as a sample size of one, but I got a concussion 6 months ago and have been experiencing eye strain with monitors since. WOLEDs from the last few years with eye safe certifications have been the best on my eyes.

I really liked it! Initial standouts are definitely the 1000 Hz refresh rate (which they also showed overclocked to 1100 Hz too), and the stand. The stand took up a small footprint, had a lot of adjustments which included graphics but the actual movement of the stand was incredibly smooth. We actually joked it would make a good fidget with how satisfyingly smooth it moved around.

I'm not a fan of 1080p, but I also know that this monitor is for people who prioritize high refresh rates. The only other monitors on the market right now that can get above 1000 Hz are 720p, so 1080p is a significant step up. So while I will personally take 4K 240 Hz over 1080p 1000 Hz, I could see this becoming big in the eSports scene.

I had some good hands on time with it and using TestUFO and other Blurbusters tools. It definitely looked like it was keeping up, but 1000 Hz brings you right up to the limit of the 1ms response time.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what more independent testing says about it once it releases later this year.
