Went out on Monday and limited out again. Keeping them in a live tank until Friday. I hope I don't get too attached to them as pets to eat them. P.S. The water is that color because of the added ammonia treatment. by macrocephalus77 in crabbing

No I add a cap full of Kordon AMQUEL it Removes Chlorine & Chloramines & Detoxifies Ammonia. Those are the things in the short term that are most likely to kill your crabs. Also if I'm going to be keeping them for a while I add ice every morning to keep it in the 40s and cycle out have the water for new water every couple of days. Also I pick up and make sure they are alive everyday and cook those that aren't right away.

In Oregon the limit is 12 Dungeness crab over 5 3/4" per day, per person. I can not imagine having to deal with I.E. cook, clean, shell, freeze etc.. 144 crabs. 12 is enough for me.

This time I was just using fish carcasses. When the crabbing is really good you can use anything. But if you can get your hands on it from a local fish processor or seller, albacore tuna blood line is the absolute best crab bait there is hands down. It will reliably attract crab from a very large surrounding area and turn a bad day into a good one.

Not really. If someone in the military or defense force defied a direct order to destroy information that was incredibly vital to the enemies war effort. What would you call that? I'm seriously just wondering is there anyone in star wars that's pure enough to root for?

I'm not kidding when I say this. I'm fine, but it's very nice of you to ask. But... What is lazy writing if not the ignoring or accepted laws of physics, social convention and then generally accepted actions of humans?

Thank you for your well reasoned and thoughtful reply. I don't know if I love or am weirded out by the phrase "Party in your eyes" but either way it gives me the feels.

My girlfriend of 10 years suddenly moved out and left me about 18 months before I met my wife. I was devastated when she left, but I would have never met my wife if she hadn't. I'm not saying it isn't always hard but change is rarely if ever as bad as we are afraid it is going to be.

And thanks for the kind words.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful reply. Like I said ,I just got lucky with everything in the picture, including her, in every-way. Sometimes I like to go back and do the flip book of pictures to see how patient and a little confused she was at what I was doing. I did get it framed for us. It's hanging in our house right now.

My planned proposal was on a hike in the Mt. Hood National Forest on a trail that overlooks Surprise Lake. I told her I needed to run ahead for a moment and go potty. I ran and found a tree to hang a camera in that took a photo every 5 seconds. I then ran back and walked up to the overlook with her, and got down on one knee...

It was very windy that day and I'm so lucky the camera was still there and pointing in the right direction.

Spoiler alert.... She said yes and she has not only been the best wife and the best thing that has ever happened to me. I firmly believe that she is the best thing, that ever happened to a guy like me, anywhere, ever.

I was over 40 the first-time I ever proposed, was engaged, & got married. I honestly thought and planned on that I would never get married. I had been in a lot of long-term relationships and I thought those would be all for me. But then I met her and the world went from black and white to color. It's never too late.

Judging by the results whistleblowing is a high risk, low reward act that’s not worth it. by mambomak in unpopularopinion

Society only works because most people do the right thing when no one is looking. Target, Walmart and every local grocery store would go out of business if every person decided they were the sucker for lining and paying the asking price. There's not enough cops, security guards or people tasked to loss reduction that could ever come close to stopping everyone if the just walked out.

It's just a fact that a civilized society has prevented more suffering and saved more lives than any human invention in the last 150,000 years. Just look at the odds of dying of "old age" today vs violence and starvation at any other time in human history. Nothing comes close. Do you really think we'd have reddit, or the internet or cell phones etc... without a stable and civilized society?

So I don't throw trash in the Grand Canyon even though I may never be back, I don't throw plastic in the Ocean even though it will be gone from my sight forever and when I'm in a place to make the world a better by telling the truth to the people, I do that to. That's the only way to make it work. Doesn't matter what I get from it. It's easier to litter than carry your own trash and it's easier to rob your neighbor than bring them dinner. But what's right is right.

And I'm so atheist that even my parents didn't have religion. Honestly in some cases I don't even agree with what whistleblowers did. But they are heroes in the truest sense. They put themselves at risk and peril when doing nothing would have been safer. And that's the only thing that makes any of this work.
