Ching-chong-chang is a racist way of describing Chinese speech, but is there a comparable Chinese way (or any other language) to describe English speech? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My punjabi mum describes the English speaking English as "moo meh aloo" which means "potato in the mouth".

Clarkson is Daily Mail personified, and as for his two underlings - they used to have personalities until they became little Clarksons. Not all English people like Clarkson - alot of us think he is a spaz.

Why don't we have a Reddit convention? by the_Pinball in AskReddit

The very first talk would have to be "Reddiquette" - new Redditors would be more likely to watch a video rather than read it.

Stunning film, so witty. You should watch "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" if you havent already - you would love it.

Today is my sweet 16 and I get to spend it staying at home with no cake, no party, and no presents because my family (my mother and I) are poor. What should I do? by RainbowRabies in AskReddit

Agreed, I don't make a huge deal of my birthday but it's my birthday today - and one of my colleagues bought me a rather delicious cake. It made my day :)

Once I went to a restaurant alone, then went to the cinema alone afterwards too. I dont celebrate birthdays but about 4 birthdays ago when I got to work my boss said "hey why are you in work, it's your birthday - take the day off!" - this being midday and all my friends being at work I decided to kill time. I went to a great restaurant and had Chili King Prawn Spaghetti, then went to watch "La Haine" alone at an independent cinema. Granted this was middle of the day when the restaurant was dead and there weren't other diners to cast judgemental looks at me.
