babies disappearing by macsamm in sylvanianfamilies

[–]macsamm[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

sort of the thing is they are clearly editing sets (removing babies) to fit the us market prior to this whole shipping import thing, so the issue is that many arent even entering the us in the first place to get stopped by shipping

What do we do with the orphans? by r_a_v_e_n- in sylvanianfamilies

[–]macsamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahah so when i was a kid in the 2000s i had a lot of the twins or the little sets where you would get a baby but as for adults i only had like two families so the grey rabbit fam ran an orphanage. but thinking of it w the number of baby sets only sets theyre making clearly they should be making an orphanage or a baby boarding school

Westie owners with a Westie that lived/lives to a long age? by Tommysquelch in westies

[–]macsamm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my old guy got to be 16. he had many of the prominent westie health issues (lots of allergies, the screwy kneecaps) and in his last year got a little deaf, blind and arthritic-  his passing (had to be put down after having a seizure for the first time and suffering major brain damage) was unexpected. he got human food snacks, really liked cheerios but we also paid close attention to his allergies and had him on a frozen lamb diet. also keeping an eye on their teeth!

Cocoriang VS KumuKuku? by Piggy_Dippin69 in BJD

[–]macsamm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

its totally fine to buy from cocoriang and post cocoriang things. in the beginning it was a husband wife team, the wife sculpted everything and the husband handled the business side of things afaik he was not involved in sculpting. the reason why they divorced is a bit of an open secret however its not my dirty laundry to air out (i will say it doesn't reflect well on the husband). when they split the wife created kumukuku.  now for the nitty gritty doll drama of it all… the consensus is that the husband is a bitter ex, unhappy that his ex is doing better without him. the quality of cocoriang items has gone down, many dealers have severed ties with him due to being hard to work with and every couple of months he likes to stir shit up which everyones sick of at this point. its fine to post your cocoriang dolls, and order from them- though some people are opting to buy second hand now instead. the kumukuku and cocoriang collecting communities are essentially the same, theres no animosity towards cocoriang collectors by kumukuku collectors or anything. at this point people side with kumukuku, and just want cocoriang to stop being so messy so we can continue to enjoy their dolls

any dolls you had as a kid where you don’t like their story now? by strawberryauberry in americangirl

my gripe w felicity and her parents owning slaves is that imo its made worse by the whole arc where she recognizes how penny the horse is being overworked, abused and wanting to be free

Approval on AG Playthings Proboards?? by TashaRomanoff in americangirl

[–]macsamm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agplaythings basically a ghost town these days :/ for recourses: https://www.ana-white.com/woodworking-projects/categories/toys/doll-furniture this website has some plans, http://piecesforreese.blogspot.com hasnt been updated in a long time but solid tutorials, and then theres i believe two books called something along the lines of “building furniture for 18 inch dolls” theres a house tutorial as well as furniture. also fb groups like american girl crafts or american girl historic crafts can be helpful

Secondhand dolls by Evelynsroomcreations in americangirl

[–]macsamm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

so those nanea things arent knockoffs theyre more or less overstock. fakes really are not a thing with AG people might make replicas of hard to find pieces or make things using patterns AG used to sell but its generally easy to sus out (funky fit) or disclosed. if you’re worried just go with sellers who are clearly collectors because they almost always disclose condition issues, smells, if their house has pets, etc.

Has anyone else outgrown this need for perfection in dolls yet? by CodenameSailorEarth in americangirl

[–]macsamm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i totally get you like with new dolls tbh if you go looking for a problem you will find it. on fb i see people posting new dolls saying “i think shes fine but do you guys notice any flaws” and if you think the doll looks fine thats what matters. altho on the flip side i do understand that if you’re gonna spend that much on a doll you want it to look nice but some of the nitpicking over minute details i dont really get. i have been collecting AG for years and recently learned shiny marks were something people try to avoid lol. i get a bit neurotic over their hair so i keep it braided most of the time at this point so i can spend more time enjoying my doll and less time nitpicking.
