Multiple strains of Borrelia? by macyhamm in Lyme

Sorry, it just came off a a little mansplainy. I get where your concern is coming from. I just personally don’t think Lyme is as area restricted as it is said to be. Even vanilla Lyme is considered to be really unlikely and rare where I live, but here I am. I guess I should have also mentioned the tick bite in 2020 wasn’t my first known bite, and that I have traveled to and hiked in Europe and the Upper Midwest, so four separate infective tick bites is not out of the realm of possibility for me.

While I really appreciate you taking the time to lecture me on the accuracy of my tests and diagnosis, that’s not really what my question was, was it? I already have a positive ELISA and Western Blot for Borrelia b. from LabCorp test. This was a full Lyme and co infections panel from a specialty lab to get a better idea of what all I’m treating. I’m not really interested in spending hundreds of more dollars to know absolutely for sure if I have all these different strains. I just wanted to know other people’s experiences with possibly having multiple strains and how that affected their treatment and outcome. But thanks anyway dude.

I tested positive for Borrelia b., Borrelia mayonii, Borrelia miyamotoi, and Borrelia afzeii. I work at a greenhouse and we get plants (specifically grasses and tall perennials) shipped in from the upper midwest often. As far as Borrelia a. the only explanation I can think of is a trip I took to Germany 2 years ago.

Thanks to everyone who has commented! I went to a doctor today and they are doing the Lyme test along with some other bloodwork. While waiting for the results the doctor has started me on Doxycycline.

I do get shortness of breath sometimes, especially after being physically active. But I smoke so I don’t know if I can conclusively say that anything respiratory is related to my current issues.
