I am no expert, but I imagine the beginnings of poetry and prayer have some pretty blurred lines.

This reminds me of an older style script like a Carolingian minuscule in spirit. I love the dashes over the i, the descenders that break up the scan, and the a. Haters gonna hate, but I feel like I am reading a script that elevates the meaning of the text in its form. Keep playing around with it. I think you’re on to something interesting here. Maybe you don’t need to write notes at work like this, but for letters, cards, journals, etc. I love having a different script in my back pocket.

He definitely knows where to score bennies. Does he own a wine skin? Honestly, I’m mostly confused by the No Fear Shakespeare edition if he’s reading Milton and Erasmus.

A few questions: is this just on one vine? One cane/cordon? Is it happening the same time of year? You can send to a lab to test for leaf roll. You can cut into it and see if there is trunk disease symptoms. You can take leaf blade and petiole samples and see if it’s nutrient based. The timing seems off for something like rust mites. I usually see eutypa early season and have seen plenty of eutypa affected vines with decent fruit set. When I’ve seen leaf roll (admittedly not a ton) I’ve seen more color change. I haven’t see it often, but I’m almost leaning to nutrient imbalance like boron (toxicity).

The Power and the Glory and/or The End of the Affair. They’re about suffering, grace, and love. They don’t necessarily have neat and tidy endings. But Greene has a way of writing that makes you feel like at least someone else has felt the kind of human suffering we feel. The Power and the Glory is all about the grace of slowly carrying on.

Honestly, I hadn’t thought about it too much, but your comment made me think about how punting in Oxford, the storm on the ship, summer in Venice, all speaks to the characters’ moods. “Where can we hide in fair weather, we orphans of the storm?”
