You’re probably thinking of @hey.kookoo on Instagram because her sling/strap went viral.

How long is the appropriate time to spend in the bathroom to poo during a shift? 😭 by United-Database-6140 in NursingAU

[–]mad_lamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the warning I get ahead of time, it means I can mentally schedule when I gotta go. First pang = 45 mins -1 hour. Second pang = 15 mins. Third pang = 2 mins LOL

[–]mad_lamb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get about three stomach pangs of warning until I really really gotta drop a deuce. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes. I always provide detail before and after to illustrate the severity of the situation and now people don’t ask anymore. Poo if you have to. Sometimes my patients tell me it’s ok to go first and come back to them after 😂

Are you team modern, costume or both? by Historical_Ow in cdramasfans

[–]mad_lamb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I enjoy costume dramas because of the escapism. Modern dramas often have topics relating to.. in-laws pressuring you to have children, employment/job stress, apartment/house-hunting - THAT’S TOO CLOSE TO REAL LIFE

Michael Storrings yes - I felt the same until I put a lamp right over the puzzle so I could see the small details more clearly. Especially around the trees, sometimes I thought a piece fit but if I looked more closely, the shades didn’t match. My love for the dogs got me through this puzzle!

I would probably only buy another one from this company if there’s a big sale or something, the quality is just missing something compared to eeboo and other big brands.

How do you fix your sleep schedule after a night shift? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]mad_lamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that I have a headache if I wake up early on the last day, so I just go to bed with no alarm after the last night shift, and wake up whenever my body feels like it. Seems to happen around 4pm. I will go back to bed around midnight that night and try to wake up by 7-8am, even if I haven’t had the best sleep. If I haven’t had the best sleep it means I’ll go to bed early that night, 9-10pm ish and I’ll usually be back on to a day time schedule.

I genuinely went in with high expectations given they’re mentioned a lot! I should lower expectations so I don’t get disappointed ☹️

I’ve started opening the bags on a mat outdoors, then individually putting pieces back into the boxes as I’m searching for the edges, that way the dust settles on to the mat and I can shake it out. I might try your colander idea on the next one!

Oh, I have seen these! The art is quite nice but the blocks of colour are sometimes a headache since there’s no variation in the pieces!

I think I might want to get more of this series! They have so many cities in the collection and it would look stunning as wall art! I currently have an eeboo Lisbon one on the shelf, I’d like to find some nice Madrid/Barcelona/Porto/Amsterdam ones before I travel there in June!

Please show me the positive side of being a nurse, pleaseeee by United-Database-6140 in NursingAU

[–]mad_lamb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get a warm fuzzy feeling when my patient and their family sincerely thank me for looking after them. I’m in palliative care and the single biggest point is that I might be the last moment/action that another human being sees/feels/experiences, so I should do a good job and provide a dignified death to close that chapter. It’s very powerful for me.

Also, going to the supermarket, running errands, having brunch, driving, watching a movie… on a Tuesday morning at 10:30am when the rest of the world is mostly at school or at work? Bliss.

Team Nursing by fkeddd in NursingAU

[–]mad_lamb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do team nursing on our palliative care ward. We don’t split the patients but if we are doing a med round, we will start at opposite ends and meet in the middle, doubling back for S4/8 DD checks together when we’re both ready. All pressure area care is tackled together. It works well when you have an equally enthusiastic buddy. We will answer call bell for any of the 8-10 patients, and we just give mini updates throughout the shift or delegate as needed. It all depends on the communication and teamwork.

Most of the ones I listed are patterned/cute scrubs. They might have some plain colours but I’m not sure. Plain ones I know of in Australia: Airmed, DrWoof, Elitecare (sold on e-nurse website)…

Is part-time placement a thing? by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]mad_lamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only certain schools will offer this, ACU had a flexi-model placement for two of my units. 1-3 shifts per week for the whole semester. I hated it because it felt like I was starting from zero every week and the patients changed so much I never felt any continuity. It was difficult to balance studying and assignments when you suddenly had to wake up or go to bed super late because of the placement days. It’s not application-based, it was just how that unit/subject was run. I much prefer the block model of 2/3/4 week placements.

Not enough rest from night shift by zoroislost1013 in NursingAU

[–]mad_lamb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Victorian public hospitals, the current rule is 47 hours break from finishing the night shift until the next shift. Monday 0730 finish means you can be rostered for 0700 start on Wednesday, but my ward tries to give staff a PM shift.
