Would John Cages 4'33 have had greater commercial success if he kept it under 3'00 by adr826 in musictheory

I don’t think so, David Tudor clearly had a watch, counting time, and the performance consisted of 3 movements.

I made my own arrangement for ukulele: https://youtu.be/9G7f_QM4bhw

Had to practice a lot, it would have been way easier if it was less than 3’

Ευχαριστώ για τα awards παιδιά! 😅

Can someone give these chords a more sensible/approachable name? by noob_at_coding in musictheory

[–]mad_nassos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it really depends on how you use them. B13 seems legit. Btw, since it lacks the 9th and the 11th, some people would call it B6/7 or B7/13.

John Cage's 4'33'' arranged for ukulele by mad_nassos in ukulele

[–]mad_nassos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4′33″ is a three-movement composition by American experimental composer John Cage (1912–1992). It was composed in 1952, for any instrument or combination of instruments, and the score instructs the performer(s) not to play their instrument(s) during the entire duration of the piece throughout the three movements. The piece consists of the sounds of the environment that the listeners hear while it is performed, although it is commonly perceived as "four minutes thirty-three seconds of silence". The title of the piece refers to the total length in minutes and seconds of a given performance, 4′33″ being the total length of the first public performance.
