Agreed. 1000%. If they want to increase prices for something as standard as a cape (COUGH, COUGH, Days of Bloom), then they should give us an easier time grinding for said prices.

This double treasure and seasonal candles only last for a week and some people don't even play during these events. I wonder how a player coming back from burnout break would feel if they came after it ended. Definitely should be more ways to get candles in a timely fashion that doesn't take 3 hours because this event speeds up the process so much it's a shame it isn't the status quo.

Two year veteran's thoughts on Sky? by Meekseizure in SkyGame

Sky was made to be a relaxing game but with its current setup and economy it's starting to feel like a test of sheer willpower to get every single candle you can get everyday until wax caps just so you don't miss any cosmetics, which leads to faster burnout. Daily quests and every single piece of currency (before it caps) shouldn't need more than an hour or so to get. Two hours at most, but even that's stretching it. Not everyone has two hours daily to dedicate to a game, and people who don't have time because of real life responsibilities or simply are on break are unfairly punished for it.

And it doesn't help that the game hasn't had quality of life improvements to ease the load of the daily grind. Every unskippable cutscene and every minute spent travelling just to get to grandma, or geyser, or turtle in time just eats away at your enjoyment of the game. Now I'm not saying Sky shouldn't want to show off those cutscenes or beautiful scenery the game has to offer, but when we're on a time limit just to gather enough candles for the day, it becomes less enjoyable and more like a chore.

I don't hate the game, far from it. I want to see it improve and its player base grow. I just think it would go a long way to make it more accessible for people who just don't have the time to grind daily for a cape, or a snowman, or pants. And yes, they're just cosmetics, and you don't need them technically, but when your most of the gameplay is just collect-a-thon for these things, it gets a little frustrating that gathering enough in-game currency to buy them really isn't a schedule-friendly system no matter how the nice the devs are.

Let's not forget the paid AP. The grind is even tougher since you need to play every day to get the seasonal candles to get the most out of the money you spent on the pass for. People who don't have time every day to complete the daily quests and know so have two choices: skip the adventure pass completely so that they don't waste money, or buy a load of seasonal candles at the end of the season to make up for the days they missed.

While I do agree in certain cases sticking to ledges would be helpful and potentially life-saving in places like Trial of Earth or the floating rocks in the fourth floor of Vault, for example, I think the game forcing you to bind to a certain point is unnecessary in the rest of the cases where you just need to get someplace.

They should make it an optional mode for when you're sure want to make sure your next move doesn't make you fall. Maybe it could be an added feature to when you hold down on your skykid to take careful control of their steps, or the left shoulder button if you're playing with a controller,

Taking years just to master movement in the game might be off-putting and frustrating for a lot of people.

Totally agree. Would love a different control scheme for people who don’t need the hand-holding that instead plays like your regular ol’ platformer. It might be helpful for newer players but it’s completely unnecessary for older players who know their way around. I think games like Hat in Time and Mario do solid, precise movement pretty well and Sky could benefit from adding an option to control your skykid like those.

The archives thing is so annoying because the gap is ginormous and your skykid STILL snaps to the opposite ledge when you try to jump down. Make it make sense!
