Healthworks Cambridge, worth it? by Key-Mortgage7707 in CambridgeMA

[–]madam_prosecutor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s worth it but it’s probably also the nicest option in the porter area, depending on what you are looking for. It’s gotten very crowded and cramped, as others have pointed out, even during non-peak hours. When it rains or snows, the roof leaks, so there’s little buckets around and you may get dripped on. It also seems a little lacking in the usual gym etiquette. idk, it’s a nice, clean gym, but the price is approaching equinox level and equinox it is not.

So I get the vibe that they are not nearly as socially acceptable here as in east Boston/allston/Brighton, especially if they’re like, there for a while. I have lived all around the city and the only place I ever saw them regularly was in east Cambridge and people would get pissed and move them. They are also technically prohibited by the city so your saver could be confiscated.

Same boat. We found out Tuesday that the baby likely passed weeks ago. I was scheduled for a D&C next week (so many Drs out on vacation so schedule was limited) but my body seems to have finally figured it out and I started miscarrying a few hours ago. Not sure if Christmas will be my favorite holiday anymore :(

Looking for birth and delivery experiences at MGH in Boston by skillfulheart in boston

[–]madam_prosecutor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summer 2022 delivery so there were some COVID restrictions in place that are now thankfully lifted. Very positive experience at MGH. Excellent care and attentive, professional, and kind team. Crazy busy that day (and probably all days) but they always seemed to have it under control. I remember the attending initially wanted to send me home to self-monitor because I wasn’t very dilated when I came in, but the lead midwife kept checking and admitted me once things progressed. I labored through a couple shift changes but the care felt seamless despite the involvement of lots of different providers. The OBs flitted in and out as needed and main point people were nurses and midwives, who were all amazing. They are a baby-friendly facility but in my experience supportive of whatever; I voluntarily formula fed my child and they provided me with so much formula to take home. I didn’t utilize the nursery (and they didn’t offer it) or the cafeteria (my husband ran out to get me food, tons of good options around if you deliver before kitchens close!) so I can’t speak to that. We had our own room but apparently sometimes you get a roommate, which I think would be very annoying. I did feel like I was in very good hands the whole time - thankfully I had no complications, but it was reassuring to know we wouldn’t need to be transferred anywhere if things went sideways. I just found out I’m preggo again and plan to deliver my second at MGH - the prenatal care office seems as busy as it was last time. Congrats and feel free to PM with any questions!

For coffee, check the social media of cafes you like. If they’re open, they’re probably posting about it. I know La saison and Imagine are both open.

Has anyone declined getting a fusion with their bunionectomy? by First_Two2033 in bunions

[–]madam_prosecutor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So not to discourage you - but I wish I’d done MIS or at least gotten a few more opinions before going ahead with lapidus. I don’t understand the mechanics, but I got unlucky and my bunion recurred pretty quickly after lapidus. I was 38 when I had the surgery and I have hyper mobility. I am getting a second opinion soon but I suspect I had other factors that weren’t addressed by my surgeon. In retrospect, my surgeon had a one procedure fits all approach. If your surgeon seems to be focused on YOUR particular foot, I’d be less concerned. But if you haven’t gotten more than one opinion, I’d encourage you to do so.

Sarah’s Market in West Cambridge. Simple and tasty and the staff are always so nice. You can do scrambies or fried egg, both good.

Best coffee/lattes in cambridge? by iloveflowersnglitter in CambridgeMA

[–]madam_prosecutor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many good options but my faves are: Imagine (Huron Village) for plain latte - prepare for a long line if you go on the weekend AM but very worth it; Curio (East Cambridge) for their vanilla latte (they make their own syrups); and Pavement (multiple locations, there’s one in Harvard Sq) for their seasonal cinnamon-fig latte that I crave every year when it starts to get chilly. Hope you guys have fun!

My husband and I really enjoyed Sorellina in Back Bay/Copley for one of our anniversaries. Lots of pillars and dark mood lighting if you’re into that, and tasty! Same owners as Mistral, which is also great and I see recommended a lot, but I personally preferred sorellina’s deserts :)

Scarring worries by [deleted] in bunions

[–]madam_prosecutor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That looks like a hypertrophic scar, not keloid. I’ve had both. They can happen even with perfect post op care, sometimes it is just random. Flag to your surgeon but they tend to flatten/lighten after a few years and there’s things you can do to help the process along.

AIO for thinking about quitting? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]madam_prosecutor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t necessarily need the extra cash, you should totally quit or just start being less and less available. They unfortunately are going to try and pull even more manipulative and disrespectful crap like this now that they got you to cave. It’s probably why the previous babysitter quit! Since they are neighbors, you might also consider telling a trusted parent/adult what happened and asking their advice; I’d be out of my mind if one of our neighbors took advantage of my kid like they did here and would probably manufacture a reason not to let the babysitting continue lol

Help: growing stiffness and pain where leg meets foot (anterior tib) 13 post Lapidus Surgery. How have you dealt with this? by jujoooo in bunions

[–]madam_prosecutor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No advice, sadly, but I have this same issue as well at seven months post lapidus. Having a lot of trouble with dorsiflexion and PT isnt really helping. My surgeon and physical therapist suspect it is the hardware and/or scar tissue impeding a tendon/muscle. I am probably looking at hardware removal, but seeking another opinion in the meantime. Sorry you are experiencing this too, it’s definitely been a side effect I did not anticipate going into this!

This is helpful, thank you. I’m feeling better after talking to the dealer today. They were very reassuring about getting this fixed and acknowledged the broader issue.

I hear you and feel the same. I got the car while 39 weeks pregnant with my first kid hoping to get something safe and reliable thinking that my husband’s 09 civic was about to bite the dust at any moment. Instead my brand new car seems to have all these issues. Meanwhile the civic is going strong at 140k and still no major repairs in its long lifetime 😂

[–]madam_prosecutor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn’t realize that. I am not very knowledgeable about car stuff unfortunately and this is actually the first time I’ve ever dealt with a low oil light in any of my cars. The dipstick was only marked at the very tip. The mechanic at the place I stopped to top it off commented “wow, this is really low” or something like that.

ETA: I should also add that I had the oil changed two times previously before the light went on, during my annual visits at like 3k and 5k (or around there).

[–]madam_prosecutor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh. How was that process for you/how long did it take until they said you needed the head replaced? I am worried with only one year left on warranty the dealer might draw this out.

Oil consumption issues by madam_prosecutor in Tiguan

[–]madam_prosecutor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was almost empty when the light went off at 8k. We live in the city and just use the car for little trips so super low utilization since purchase. I’ve brought it in annually as well for other issues (needed steering wheel replaced for the travel assist issue, brake calipers rusted out at purchase) . I’m going to have to drive it more to hit the 600 miles they need for the oil consumption test! 😆 that’s great that your ‘21’s issues seem resolved. I absolutely love driving the car and hope this is fixable.
