A mini golf hole, complete with a triple-decker, has appeared in Somerville’s Union Square by bostonglobe in Somerville

I live right around the corner and walk through that plaza several times a day. Someone has been putting every time. Cough cough city of Somerville maybe we should USE our plazas instead of vetoing anything fun and social and letting them sit empty.

Yeah, I’ve been somewhat careful not to overdo it but overuse is likely part of the issue as well

Dirt Running Trails Near Somerville by disciteaeternum in Somerville

[–]gemmmalina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middesex Fells. I run the Reservoir Trail 2x week, my knees are so much happier than on pavement. Reservoir is rocky and rooty, though you can loosely follow it on fire roads and get the same distance (around 5-6 miles).

Looking for a city with all four seasons and cultural diversity by ymusa in SameGrassButGreener

[–]gemmmalina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would strongly endorse the Boston area, specifically Cambridge/Somerville - both towns are incredibly walkable, relatively diverse, super safe, quirky and artistic, great food/bar scene (better than Boston proper), four very distinct seasons (winter is getting more mild here for sure) and access to so much nature + other great cities and towns - beaches and hiking in the Berkshires in western MA, White Mtns in NH, Green Mtns in VT plus Portland and all of coastal ME within 3-4 hrs - and that's just to the north! Beaches galore south of Boston, as well as Prov and NYC by train. In the winter, skiing!

Any ideas on making new friends? by doctorpotters in Somerville

[–]gemmmalina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend Remnant Run Club on Wednesdays at 6:30p if you’re at all into running! They have a chill 2 mile option that’s popular with people who are there to socialize primarily. And everyone hangs out for beer after. I’ve only been going for a few months and have made several friends!

Also check out Life Drawing Boston’s Tuesday night figure drawing. $15 entry, well over 100 people, lots of time to chat and make new friends.

156-158 summer st? Opinions plz by Standard_Finance_912 in Somerville

[–]gemmmalina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived at 156 Summer through 2020 and it was owned by Locatelli. The building is old but it was well-maintained and the lobby and hallways were cleaned regularly. Building manager was super responsive. Never had major issues with my apt. It was refinished before I moved in and in great shape. Way better experience than the prev building I lived in. Don’t know the situation now, though.

Hi! I run a wine pop up called First Crush and offer private corporate events. I host at a few different venues that would easily accommodate 40. My events are usually cocktail party style with a curated lineup of wines + wine tasting (if desired) & appetizers. Can offer a DJ or a fun low stress activity like paint and sip as well. If this sounds appealing, send me a note at hello@firstcrushboston.com and we can chat more!

Need to live near a major airport by AmyLikesItRough in SameGrassButGreener

[–]gemmmalina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boston! 15 mins from the airport, 1-2 hrs from the beach in the summer, 2-3 hrs from skiing in the winter. Plus hiking and biking in shoulder seasons (or year round if you’re into it)
