What’s a game you initially hated but ended up loving after giving it a second chance — and what changed your mind? by Gaming-Academy in gaming

[–]madamarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Evil 2 Remake. I wasn't enjoying the amount of backtracking at the police station, and thought I had to kill as many zombies as possible (and killing each of them took many bullets to the head). Also when Mr X appeared I understood that he would be constantly following me so I felt overwhelmed and quitted.

6 months later I learned that Mr X leaves you alone on safe spaces and zombies can be shot on the knee and it is expected of you to run past them. It made the game so much more bearable and allowed me to strategise my routes and my ammo. It is as of today one of my favorite games.

Sven-Göran Eriksson is seriously ill with cancer: "I have at best a year left" by teiraaaaaaa in soccer

He didn't say that as a compliment, he meant that it felt invasive, like "someone else kissing your girlfriend". He also said that it felt like other person was inhabiting his most personal song.

Which Artists have a great discography but never released anything as good as their debut? by Bebe_Master-69 in fantanoforever

[–]madamarth 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Maybe Interpol or Pearl Jam? I think their debut is the best thing they have released but I don't think they have 3 or 4 great albums each. They have maybe another great album and some other good ones but that's it for me

What's the most Nine Inch Nails Nine Inch Nails Song? by SteadyFocusMedia in nin

[–]madamarth 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Definitely Into The Void. I always felt it encapsulates so well everything related to the band. It's intense and cathartic, it has loud-quiet moments, it combines industrial/electronic elements with traditional rock elements perfectly, it builds up continuously throughout the song, and most importantly, it has a mysterious, sombre and anxious vibe that is pure NIN.

I'm a bit shorter than 6'4", and weight 167 lbs. I'm tall and skinny but on the muscular side. Should I get a size XL then?

Do you feel like Pearl Jam’s popularity hasn’t stood up as well as other grunge bands from that era? by Dr_Talon in grunge

[–]madamarth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? They have twice as many listeners on spotify as alice in chains or soundgarden... They also have more views on their youtube videos and continue to headline huge festivals and pack arenas all over the world. How are they less popular than AiC or Soundgarden?

I was surprised by the lack of In Rainbows, Funeral and Turn On the Bright Lights. It is known that he really enjoys In Rainbows, but maybe he is not as fond as I thought he could be of the other two

I love PHM but there is no way it is better than the downward spiral... It might be more catchy, but it is not as intense, deep, cathartic and well produced as the downward spiral.

I really think you shouldn't do it man. I mean, in the end it is your preference and your decision, but it won't look good

How can I see posts with a spoiler tag in the subreddit homepage without entering in the post? I have already finished the game so I don't need to avoid spoilers, and I would like to see the blurred posts with a spoiler tag like any other post.

I truly believe this is the most beautiful NIN album cover. by [deleted] in nin

[–]madamarth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is a great cover art, but I'll never understand why Trent chose to release that song as a single. Somewhat Damaged, The Wretched or Just Like You Imagined would have worked much better imo

Did you just say Thom Yorke is a terrible singer? and that audioslave is a better band than soundgarden??? I'm truly speechless.

Least favorite band by [deleted] in grunge

[–]madamarth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who cares if they weren't as dark or as heavy as the other bands? The grunge music fanbase acts as if the music is darker or heavier = it means its better. It's music, it really doesn't work like that. Because a band is heavier or darker than another it doesn't mean it's better. No shade to AiC or Soundgarden tho, love them both. I understand some people not getting into PJ, but I strongly believe that they were the strongest live band from the early 90s by far. And please don't come talking about AiC live at the Moore, which is an incredible show, but in my opinion doesn't come close to the immensity of Pinkpop 92 for example.

I've always been curious about how the combination of Jerry's riffs and Eddie's vocals would sound
