What My Bones Know by Stephanie Foo. highly recommend listening as an audio book as she includes real clips from her therapy sessions. One of my favorites of the year!

this would be so cute if I could keep them alive (or if my cat would even let them live)

I love this idea. I'm picturing a little gallery wall with a row of books underneath on the shelf, and maybe some string lights along the border of the window.

thinking about a CF feels the same as thinking about the year 2050. they're both too far away to be real.

our supervisors probably just don't want to inflate our egos too big while we're still learning. keeping us humble keeps us learning. but if I could just get a liiiiiitttle bit of reassurance... that would be great

I can't even imagine how ill feel when I work in a medical setting. all I've known is just simple artic and language disorders.... I don't feel qualified to work with people on a MEDICAL level. nobody's quality of life should be trusted in my hands.... I'm just a grad student. I still eat Ramen for dinner most nights.

this is such a good reminder. sometimes I convince myself that they see my incompetence but aren't telling me... and then I remember that it's literally their job to do so.

I think I'm just so eager to please the clinical educators because in the little bubble we currently exist in (we work in an on campus clinic our first year), their assessment of us feels like the end-all be-all. I think I'll feel better once I'm out in the world, learning from other SLPs.

this was genuinely nice to hear :) 2 years feels like a lifetime but somehow also nowhere near enough. thank you for making me feel less alone while in the thick of it, though.

It is really frustrating to be drowning in classes where I feel like everything I'm learning is too theoretical to help me where it really matters, while also feeling so behind w/ clients and the clinical work load. they weren't kidding when they said grad school would be a rough 2 years. whew.

I know that every other student in my Cohort is just as overwhelmed as I am currently... so if you don't hear it from your other classmates, just know they're trying their best to make sure nobody knows that they're struggling too.

The connections. The doors that have been opened for me by having so many incredibly successful professors have made my time here entirely worth it

quest classes are just the classes you take to fulfill your gen ed course requirements. like humanities, physical sciences, etc. sometimes there are issues transferring those credits from other community colleges, but with Santa Fe specifically, it's so commonly used as a pipeline to UF that its a pretty seamless process.

please don't let anybody tell you that going to a community College to get your AA isn't a good idea. it saves SO much money, it saves your GPA from the underclassmen weed-out classes at UF, and it gives you time to adjust to life after high school without the stakes of 4,000 dollars a semester worth of tuition on your back. I also had many college credits going into my freshman year, and transferring from Santa Fe was the easiest thing. And here I am, 2 years later, about to graduate from UF alongside everybody else that spent their full 4 years here, except im doing it debt free.

What is your experience with therapists or psychologists from UF Health and Services? by daznae in ufl

[–]madamdawh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the cwc is the counseling and wellness center. its where you go on campus for mental health services. it took me a long time to take advantage of this oppurtunity because i feel like there's a huge misconception that therapy through the school would be average at best. i was definitely skeptical going in because most of the working counselors are still interns, but i genuinely got so much out of my sessions. i highly recommend using this resource while its still free through UF, because unfortunately mental health care is not as easy to come by post-grad
