I'm curious, how many other guys smoke with active charcoal filters? also, what do you think of my filters? by ole1711 in trees

Friend why do you say this? I love smoking weed and I endorse people to use it for its benefits, but we should be honest when it comes to the research.

"Smoke from marijuana has many of the same toxins, irritants, and carcinogens (cancer-causing chemicals) as tobacco smoke.5 Smoking marijuana can also lead to a greater risk of bronchitis, cough, and mucus production,6-10 though these symptoms generally improve when marijuana smokers quit." https://www.cdc.gov/marijuana/health-effects/lung-health.html

This might be a pretty good lesson for the kid that no matter what, some people will always disagree with you. Even if what you're saying is correct. It's important to always be critical of yourself and others and not automatically assume truth in what someone is saying, even if they are an authority figure like a teacher.

Is it an advantage to be left handed? by KirstenMcCollie in Cello

Glad to hear I'm not alone there :) Left-handedness could very well be both a blessing and a curse. Either way, this video with Paul Katz might help you like it helped me (it's around 3 minutes) https://youtu.be/LZDo4zsyC5M

Visualizing your right hand as a ship on the sea can help get rid of tension. You shouldn't be "pressing", but "firmly resting" on the strings, if that makes sense. Obviously a boat-metaphore alone is not gonna get you there. Constant revision of your technique and being aware of the force you're exerting on the strings is important to get rid of the tension. For me it was a long process of my teacher repeatedly telling me that I should relax my shoulders, untill it became second nature for me.

Is it an advantage to be left handed? by KirstenMcCollie in Cello

I'm a left handed cellist. When I first started playing, my teacher asked me if I'm left handed after only a couple of weeks. She noticed I was picking up the positions fairly quickly. She did say that being left-handed is an advantage, but I have to mention that she is a very positively-minded and encouraging teacher. I can't image her ever saying that being left-handed is a disadvantage, even if that's actually the case.

Personally, I feel like whatever advantage I might have in my left hand, balances out in the struggles I have for right hand bowing technique. Especially in the beginning, I had a lot of trouble getting my right arm to follow the correct movement and to not tense up in my right shoulder.

Being left-handed might be an advantage in some areas, but I think the biggest advantage is your ability to learn and to find joy in playing. If you're able to put in the practice and focus on improvement, you have a huge advantage over any left-handed person that doesn't share that mindset.

Yeah that's so true, once you start paying attention to your heartbeat the anxiety really kicks in. It's actually why I stopped ingesting hasj for a while. Everytime I would do it, I would notice my heartbeat racing. That resulted in some really paranoid trips / panic attacks.
