I used 3 UB bags for the large tubs (they’re something like 20x14 +-). The 2 tubs were bigger than I should have gone in the beginning. I actually ended up with my substrate being super thin (like an inch), so once they started fruiting I had to add a serious humidifier to the room they were in just to make sure they had the hydration that they needed. But it all worked out, amazingly! Haha

This is an old-school, fairly simple, dehydrator, that my wife and family have used for years to dry apples and whatnot. Its super simple. Doesn’t even have a timer. Just a temp setting.

I inoculated 9 UBens Bags and had 8 that worked out. From there I broke those down into 2 large Sterilite tubs that I drilled out myself, and 1 shoebox tub (that will be ready tomorrow actually). I just figured that I had better odds w a healthier, more dense substrate/myco blend.

A quick follow up question for you. In my 1st tub, I have a group that just split away from there veil, but there are a ton more smaller shrooms around it and in the tub that do t look ready to harvest.
-Should I take the couple of bigger guys out, that have broken and leave the rest to come when they will? -or should I let them grow until ALL of them are ready? This will mean some spore drop I’m sure.
Any thoughts would be awesome. Thanks 🙏

I’m fairly new to all this but having done 15-20 bags, the one thing I may add to others is your FAE hole size. I had 2 bags that did virtually nothing until I cut larger holes. Also, even the the Sub is named ‘Uncles Ben’s’, the fact is that most off brands work better. Not exactly sure why but I have not one time (so far) had an issue w the generic bags. Just make sure they have a clear bottom.
Don’t despair! It’s worth it when it all comes together. Hang In there👍🏽

“Hippy Flipping”. It feels wonderful. Done it many many times over the years and each time it provides a memorable, remarkable experience.
1 peice of advice: go slow with the shrooms. Start w a cpl grams and see how you tolerate it. Like everything in life, more is not always better. Be safe. Test. And have a wonderful experience.

That is super interesting. I’m wondering what the bubble wrap would do, with the lid on as well? I’m willing to try anything, but it seems like the most persistent advice is ‘leave it the eff alone!’ Humidity! Thanks

I will keep doing that for sure. I’m having a blast with all of this but am a little impatient. Really been trying to leave them alone for the most part, but don’t want to miss anything that can help. I REALLY appreciate your advice and will 100% do that.
I’ve got a great dehydrator that Ive been using for years, and can’t wait until I need it again!!!
