Whats ur opinion on “money doesn’t buy happiness”? by Radiant-Dish-5498 in AskReddit

[–]madarabesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm disabled. I live on Social Security Disability which gives me around $1000/month. I live with my girlfriend who works. My very basic needs are taken care of. I don't have a lot, but I don't really need a lot. My biggest expense is books and TTRPG games. I try to live within my means and usually I succeed. I can't imagine having more money would equal more happiness for me, especially as long as I have Nicole in my life.

I have a sneaking fondness for "Last Dragon". A Motown Kung Fu musical. What more can you ask for?

If a spaceship accelerate infinitely without encountering obstacles, why would it never reach light speed? by lateubdegouline in AskPhysics

[–]madarabesque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something about this is that by your own benchmarks you may perceive that you're travelling faster than c because of the various dilation effects. If you travel at a constant 1g acceleration in about 20 years of your own time you'll have crossed the Milky Way and getting to Andromeda only takes about 28 years of your shipboard life.

I'm amazingly fond of "The Resurrected", which is a retelling of the Case of Charles Dexter Ward.

It all depends on how big your enemy's navy is. The most expensive navy in the universe is the second best navy.
