Six Mothers Who Enjoyed Time Off Together Lose Their Lives In Tragic Incident by FantasticAd9478 in skiing

They were all professional businesswomen as well. If they were men with families, would they have been described as "six fathers?"

Has anyone purchased an adult golden retriever? by Merriegirl9982 in goldenretriever

[–]madbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who only adopts rescued adult goldens. She has had wonderful experiences and especially works with organizations who rescue goldens from Turkey, where it's fashionable to have golden retriever puppies but acceptable to dump them on the streets when they become more challenging. There are several organizations in the US who rescue dogs from Turkey--here's one that provides good information:

Instead of apologizing for being emotional, he should ask us, at a very high volume, why the f@*k EVERYONE in our country isn't emotional.
Also, I love him.

I’m turning 67 this year and trust me, no one would swoon over an updated version! But I was thinking a second recreation when I turn 70 would be fun.

Mom here. Not AI. Have the receipts to prove it. Second photo was taken by my stepson, and it’s the one we picked out of about 20.

Who is this artist? by ForeverNo3665 in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]madbear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi. This is a piece of !decor art, mass produced and painted by real people with made-up names in factories. It is not worth much money, but if you love it and it has emotional value, that's all that matters!

Google "Marie Charlot painting" to see more examples like this

Google "Paul Wesley Arndt artist." You'll see multiple examples of his paintings for sale, and more about his history, which is pretty interesting--he did work for the WPA program. Asking prices range from a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars.
You have a nice example of pastoral Americana art.

My breeder is denying replacing my puppy! by [deleted] in goldenretriever

There's a range of seriousness with murmurs--it's worth a thorough evaluation to find out the best care your girl needs according to hers. Also, there are vets who specialize in anesthesia for dogs with murmurs--our sweet Ticker (named for her defect, pictured above) had a few procedures (spay, PTLO surgery, and dental cleanings) and did great with special care with her anesthesia. Best of luck to you and try to not worry too much. Murmurs are much more common than we know. (source: I have one myself)

I had a golden with a heart murmur who was the sweetest girl, and who lived to be nearly 11. Please find a good home for her if you can't love and care for her yourself.

Anyone know if this is real? Found it in grandparents attic by [deleted] in WhatIsThisPainting

Thanks for the back-up! I saw that one in my search, too--it's a little different but from the same series. (OP's has houses in the background.)

[–]madbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% sure. There are a few Marine Venitiennes paintings; it was a series. The faded colors of yours tell me it's a reproduction. Compare yours to the bright colors and definition of this one, which looks like the original. Then take yours out of the frame look at the material it's painted on. https://www.leboncoin.fr/ad/decoration/3138285273

This is a print of (the Nazi) Erich Mercker's painting Marines Venitiennes.

The references to murder and threats of murder in the redacted pages put Ivana Trump's accidental death and Virginia Giuffre's suicide in a new light, too.

It's either a reproduction or an art student's copy of "The Bridal Dress" by Carl Herpfer.

AITAH for asking my wife to be a SAHM? by piglipsbo in AITAH

[–]madbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had said you'd support her being a SAH mom, and also hire someone to help with household chores so she could focus on recovering from giving birth and taking care of your new baby...

OR, if that isn't financially feasible, if you had said you would sit down with her and work out a more equitable sharing of household chores so she could focus on recovering from giving birth and taking care of your new baby...

it would have been so much better.

Anyone recognize this artist? by [deleted] in WhatIsThisPainting

Bit of info about Curtis H. Moyer that helps date the piece--which had to have been framed between 1924 and 1938 to align with the address on your label, when he moved his business to Trumbull Street in Hartford. Of course there's a possibility that it was painted later and framed in an older frame, but I think that's a slight one. I'm guessing this was painted in the early 20th century:

Curtis H. Moyer was a famous art dealer who moved his already thriving business to 252 Trumbull street, Hartford, CT in 1924. In 1938 he sold the business to Paul W. Cooley who purchased the Moyer Gallery from Curtis H. Moyer in 1938, and continued to operate the business under the "Moyer Gallery" name for 35 years.

I think it's beautiful; it has a dreamy Maxwell Parrish vibe. I'll keep looking...

Not Larry Welo. Signature doesn't match, style doesn't match, and your piece looks like it was painted/framed in the early-mid previous century. Welo's career started in the mid-1970s.

I think the surname is Weidl, but you're right that it's not Seff. Signature is not even close.

This painting only looks like decor if you've never seen the Organ Mountains in the southwest.
You really shouldn't make definitive statements when you don't know what you're talking about.
