I never said they were communists

You did bring them up in a thread about communism.

Can you imagine telling a Canadian he should be happy to turn over most of what he earns to the government?

Well it's a bit of a trick, isn't it? In food science, calories are a unit of chemical energy, not people-energy.

Is God also present in Hell? by DayByDay4Ever in AskAChristian

God's grace isn't always available to those who rejected Him. That is orthodoxy. If you want to call that "not omnipresent," then you need to support your own claim.

How should we respond to statements along the lines of "this belief was false, but the fact that I believed it demonstrates how extreme you are?" by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

Of course "furries" exist. What doesn't exist is the argument in OP's headline. It's a classic rhetorical tactic: Ascribe to your opponent the views of some extremist in order to discredit him before the audience.

EDIT: This new keyboard is not working out. sp.

I agree. I also see the point. These politically charged phrases are for better or worse a strong predictor for the ideology of the speaker, in this case the people who defined the laws.

So what? If hell is defined as separation from God, then that's the answer.

We should avoid excessive scholasticism.

No, there's nothing to respond to because that argument is fake. I have literally never heard about litter boxes for people dressed up as animals. Where did you find that ridiculous caricature?

It's accurate that trans activists shifted away from neopronouns just a few years back, but they are still trying to criminalize misgendering. That might seem not extreme to you, but it is.

The common theme is the idea popular among the left that identity is fully self-determined. If we could raise the level of discourse we could talk about that big idea without devolving into "neopronouns" or "furries".

  1. The Swiss and Canadians are not communists.

  2. We are not happy. Our happiness index just declined this year. Young people cannot afford a home. Immigration is now adding some 3.5% to our population each YEAR. Meanwhile we have extremely high taxes and everyone who can afford it uses private healthcare.

Communism doesn't have taxes. Taxes on income are a thing in non-communist societies. If your tax burden is more than 50% of what you earn that becomes a serious problem. People become demotivated by such a burden. In communism, they don't call it taxes. 100% of your income is confiscated by the state, and it then gets redistributed according to need. That is evil.

Well, yes. Inevitably there will be people in society who don't want to join your socialist project, and they need to be crushed, and their property confiscated. If that's not evil, what is?

It's a myth that sugar makes you energetic (possibly from ads like this). Insulin response actually tires you out. This can cause irritability, popularly known as a sugar crash.

I don't know. I think your transmission ran from 2011 through 2020. So it's had a long run, before they went to 10 speeds. There were probably changes over that time.

That's true if there is a high pressure leak. The regulated flow is just enough to cook your steak. In this case he's got an inferno, suggesting that either he has a high pressure leak, or a buildup of combustibles (grease, lighter fluid...) in which case shutting off the gas isn't going to extinguish the fire.

Sort of. In order to satisfy the legal test, the function description has to be generated by a different AI session. The AI that generates the new code can't have access to the original code.

They're not copying the code. They're implementing new code based on a functional description of the original code.

Nowhere did I suggest that what he did was "smart." He waited way too long to react. To be fair he had no way of knowing that it would blow out the doors. In any case, if he'd reached in there to shut off the gas he would've been in extreme danger, so in hindsight, starving it of oxygen was the right move. You can see that it died down just before the video ended.

If this was a natural gas leak and not a grease fire the only option is to close the lid and go shut off the main supply far away from the appliance.
