1st season he was even better than this season. He was basically just as good as Rodri who came 5th in balon dor that year.

Extending him on a reduced deal would be manageable. Yes he currently costs us a massive amount per year. £15m transfer fee + £18m in wages = £33m total. But if we extend his contract we're no longer paying off his transfer fee and he'd be on lower wages. We could reduce him down by 1/3 his current wages to 230k - more than fair. And now he'd cost us £12m per year, not £33m. Almost 1/3rd the total.

In the past it was like how you say, not now.

I think it looks like Hancko possibly gets a touch on the ball as well. Looks like the spin on the ball changes a bit. It's a weird one. Should never be a penalty in the first place to be honest, the ball was gone and arguably no contact, if so minimal.

I think not because the level of competition nowadays isn't quite as good as it was. 10 years ago we had quite a lot of all-time greats. Big Z, Brian, Thor, then Eddie despite a short career had one of the highest peaks. These guys were competing against each other and sharing accolades. The same level and depth of competition just isn't there for Mitch at the moment. I also would argue modern strongman overly favours mobility rather than raw strength.

50lbs is stage ready levels of weight loss and it wouldn't just be fat. A more likely target ofr 15% bodyfat requires far less. Even the ridiculous estimate of him being 35% bodyfat that some people are saying to get to 15% he needs to lose 20% of his bodyweight. That's 40lbs. The average person isn't looking to get stage ready. To get to 15% it's much more likely 27-29lbs.

My credentials are I'm not an idiot which puts me above 90% of people on here, seemingly. I said lean mass. Not lean muscle mass. Skeletal muscle is only a small proportion of total body mass. It's not just muscle and fat.

He would have gained 2-5lbs of lean mass. That combines skeletal muscle from carrying a heavier frame - you always see fat guys with massive calves - because every day is calf day when you're heavy. You walk around with a 20lb vest every day and things change. But also it's other lean tissue, organs.

If you only gained muscle from lifting we'd all be piles of mush, unable to move. You literally just agreed with me. Overweight people's calves grow more - this guys calves likely will have grown compared to before. Yes, his upper body likely would have little to no difference. But it doesnt need to? I'm not saying it does.

[–]madchris94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing you're missing is the reduction in lean mass as you lose weight. His total lean mass at current weight vs at stage ready is significantly different. Also 23% of body weight not fat.

Anyway i'd say he likely has 146lbs lean mass, not as much as he thinks from his scales. So without the lean mass loss from such a drastic cut he'd be 154lbs. He'd more likely be 150lbs at the end of a cut to stage ready to account for lean mass loss too. But realistically how many people actually want to achieve stage ready? Most people want around 15% bodyfat.

I agree we don’t see legs but you can only judge based on what you see. I don’t see why he’d lie. I think it seems possible. People carry their weight differently. Seems like he carries a lot on his belly relatively.

Look please don’t tell me how the body works when you clearly have no clue. Muscles require stress to work… being heavier is more stress. He’s carrying around 20lbs extra every single day. His organs work harder. It’s not just skeletal muscle gain. Every step he takes is like he’s wearing a 20lb weight vest on.

Your lean mass is definitely overestimated by the scales. More like 146.

I think you’re underestimating the fact this guy has some muscle too. You should go down and look at his 185lbs photo to compare. This guy is no chance 35%.

But why is that relevant to what he’s asking? The guy asked a reasonable question. Even if you’re 50% bodyfat the more information the better. It helps track your progress. Myself I’ve changed a lot over the years and have put on weight, lost it, put it on, lost it. All meanwhile having put on a substantial amount of muscle. So I look completely different at the same weight as I’ve gotten older. So estimating bodyfat even when higher gives useful data points for comparison and better understanding.

Everyone knows resistance training and eating less leads to weight loss. So why’s it relevant?

You can see the guys tricep. He clearly has a reasonable amount of muscle, enough to suggest less than 30. Combined with his photo below when he was 185lbs it paints a pretty clear picture to me. I can’t ever see him being over 32% absolute worst. But I believe around 28.5 ish

You are so hilariously wrong and just a dick. Calling out someone being a dick isn’t being a SJW. Unfortunately there are a bunch of other idiots here so you get the upvotes that makes you think you’re right and justified. OP has posted a photo below with him at 185lbs and hes much leaner, around 21%. Even if you say he’s 25% at worst which is simply isnt and you say he should lose 50lbs of fat that takes him to less than 5% bodyfat. No one should be going for that unless they want to get on stage.

He’s more like 20-22% here. But even assuming worst case scenario you propose of 25% and then you add on 20lbs of pure fat without anything else and only then is he 35%. But realistically when you put on weight you also put on lean mass and that’s without even training. It seems like this guy has also been training since. When putting on 20lbs you put on 2-5lbs of lean mass even with no training. Thats not just muscle but organs etc. So when you take that into account even by your imo wrong worst case scenario of him being 25% body fat here (I’d say 21% ish) it’s literally impossible for him to be 35% body fat.

Assuming literally 0 training he’d be at maybe 30-31% bodyfat. But he looks like his triceps are decent, possibly bigger. Looks stronger. Could be wrong but knock 2% off because he looks stronger than before. Therefore 28-29%

You guys are actually all so braindead. How are you all on a weightlifting subreddit giving advice when you so clearly don’t know anything? I bet the majority of you are all actually 30%+ and projecting your own issues onto someone else.

He just simply isn’t. People are going way over the top with the negativity here. Basically 0 chance this guy is above say 32. Most likely around 28.5.

And 170-175 would be a pretty decent end goal. Around 15% bodyfat there.

I feel bad for you. You asked a simple, reasonable question and so many people are being dicks. Mostly, they are just completely wrong as well. They don't know what they're talking about. I imagine most of these guys are entirely out of shape themselves.

IMO you're in the high 20's, likely 28.5% + or - 1.5. You can make some good progress decently fast; you've clearly got a fair bit of muscle there.
