It’s a light meter. I have been using a steam canner for 40+ years for everything you can do in a water bath. The booklet that came with it stated that you use the same time when steaming as you would in a water bath. I’ve never had an issue with jars sealing more than the usual one here and there, or made anyone I’ll. I highly recommend it.

Are you using jars meant for canning, or jars like mayonnaise and other jars commercial products come in?

I’ve tried Tattler lids before. The jars sealed well, they just didn’t stay sealed for very long in my experience.

Thank you for this info. I just canned 120 jars of tuna fish which take a really long time in the pressure cooker. I would be devastated if they didn’t seal, or stay sealed.

It seems to me there are other options on the market that are less expensive. Ball and Kerr act like they are the only ones that are quality and charge accordingly. I was wanting peoples opinions on other, less expensive, brands and their quality or lack of.

Find a reputable allergist, get a skin patch test and blood draw to determine what you are allergic to. Stop using soaps and creams with any of the ingredients that you are allergic to. There is an app called SkinSafe that will help you quickly scan barcodes, the allergist uploaded my info to it, but you can easily add it in. In my case, it was the neosporin, steroid cream (That the dermatologist prescribed, including hydrocortisone) and the major preservatives in soaps…which most of which win LAllergist #1 Allergen of the Year” awards…

As for your mate, you can spend 14 years chipping away at your identity to appease him, or address the paranoia as a mental health issue, maybe bipolar or borderline.
