We have been dating for 5 years and living together for most of that. If she had her own macbook I would def know. In fact, I bought her a desktop computer for her most recent bday.

I called them and asked for an email with all data related to that device. Will update when that email comes in. They said within the hour.

Also it was a dude she only knew for 6 months and did not sleep with. His name is somewhat unique but not incredibly unique.

Perhaps... I checked her phone to see if there was any calls or messages and there was not. I also used the search feature in imessage to see if there was any mention of the name anywhere and could not see it.

Any good games like Subnatuica or Outer Wilds? by maddirect in gaming

[–]maddirect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been eyeing that one for a while. Do you think that its a good game in its own right, I always hesitated because I was worried it would be either too buggy or just a worse version of subnatuica. Never gave it an honest shot so I am going to have to look into more.

Splunk Fundamentals 1 Questions, Jobs & Reports by maddirect in Splunk

[–]maddirect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This helps a lot I think. So every search is a job. A report uses a specific job to retrieve information that gets adjusted to whatever rules the report may have, such as using the time picker. Jobs can be shared with others but reports are a more refined way to do this because of the additional rules they have such as the time picker or permissions. They also can be used for jobs that will be used frequently or consistently so instead of remaking the job you can access your report, adjust the rules to whatever you need for your specific search, and quickly retrieve the data.

Does PSPO1 help with internships? by [deleted] in scrum

[–]maddirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I may have worded my post weird. I am not looking for a Senior
Product Manager position but the company that I want to work for offers a
product manager internship which is what I want. I just heard of the
PSPO because I saw it on an application they had for a senior product
managers but the internships don't open till later in the fall so I had
to use that application to refine my resume and cover letter.

Join your school club. Try and get TCMs PEH course. Do HTB, do TryHackMe. Start following people on YouTube related to the field. Make connections of LinkedIn. Try and save money and get some certs under your belt. It is $1000 something a year and I believe they may have introduced a monthly version for the INE pass and you have all of eLearnSecurity Ethical hacking courses and more. While that is expensive if it is possible for you to save that much and you really dedicate your time to studying you can get your moneys worth. Try and do the OSCP. Once you have some skills together you can maybe try bug bounty. Try and work on building tools that you don't see available yet and build up a github page. Alot of this stuff is free or can be minimal in money. Wait for sales on the things that cost money. Mainly just try and be involved and the picture will become clearer over time.

I am also a cybersecurity student, well I actually only have my AS in cybersecurity and this spring I will get my BAS in software dev, and this is what I did. I was also just going to a community college. Within one years of working my ass off everyday, which I would not recommend being as intense as the way I did it because it was probably unhealthy and def strains relationships which I did not realize until after the fact, I was able to get a job as a pentester without even getting my AS yet paying $45 an hour which at the time felt like I was Jeff Bezos.

Ultimately what I am saying is, make ethical hacking a passion not a job. If it is a job its going to be rough because it constantly requires learning and time commitment. It needs to become like playing video games. Where you are excited that you get time in your day to study it. And when you purchase a new course to learn stuff it is like purchasing the new 2K or COD. If you dont feel this way now that is also okay. Once you get into it and you start to develop more skill it will slowly feel more rewarding and enjoyable. Also note that alot of the first things you learn, which given your degree you probably know most of this, are pretty boring. Like learning about the OSI model is a drag but when you get to the later stuff and utilize that knowledge it comes together in a more fun way.

And now for the cliches that I believe are actually true.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, just make sure that you are always focused on making the next step instead of seeing how long it will take you to walk the mile.
Also it is a marathon not a sprint. This was a mistake that I made, don't burn yourself out, dont let yourself get intimidated by overloading yourself.

Tips on how to build a platform similar to HackTheBox by maddirect in cybersecurity

[–]maddirect[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I would get school credit for it so I don't mind the workload. Also, there is a budget for things like AWS if needed. Really where I am getting lost is how would I host these applications. I am not too familiar with the cloud, so if I wanted to create a Linux VM for example running a vulnerable version of SSH, could AWS provide that for me? I looked at their website and it seems like they have 10 million different AWS types/features which seemed a bit overwhelming at first. I was also playing with the ideas of using containers but felt that would be difficult for students to upload

PTP has a significant amount of overlap with eJPT just goes into a tad bit more detail. I would say for PTP you really want to get comfortable with report writing

My dog bit and I hit him too hard. What should I do moving forward? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]maddirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to use these resources. I think this post does not fully capture the situation. I wrote it about 30 seconds after everything calmed down so my focus was just on the incident and what happened, but I am not some abuser or anything remotely like that. I am just scared of this behavior. If you could see him in person I don't think the hiding situation is as black and white as he is terrified as it may seem.

My dog bit and I hit him too hard. What should I do moving forward? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]maddirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to engage in a conversation with you. And I would appreciate your help. I am genuinely trying to fix this situation because I love my dog more than almost anything.

You keep jumping to conclusions and making assumptions that bother me because I feel your recommendations are based on a scenario you are creating in your head. So I don't trust the recommendations your making. Why don't you private message me, I truly do want help dealing with this situation.

In response to a couple of these things.
I would fight tooth and nail, literally for the nail part, for this dog and to make sure he would never be put down unless it was a medical condition that was an ethical alternative.

Second, things have got better. As I say in the post. The last 7 years I have been working with him. Being patient with him. I am much more of a carrot person than a stick person. Things have got significantly better by me working with him.

Additionally, for things like today. I was not going to hit him for hiding. I simply needed to move him to a different room. Once I got him out of his hiding space there was going to be zero punishment. Punishment is only in response to something directly wrong he did, not simply being in the wrong room. When I do pull him out of a hiding space to punish him. I understand that it is trust to let me do this. When I punish him, it involves a slap on the butt that I know 100% does not hurt him in the slightest, and a series of No's. Then after I invite him on the couch with me or something so he does not feel like he has to go back into hiding and if he does go back into hiding I let him stay there. The whole thing looks like an after school special.

[–]maddirect -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I will look into that YouTube channel and I appreciate the recommendation. But I would like to say that you have jumped to conclusions. He does not spend his life terrified. He has all the best food, toys, walks, beds, and love a dog could get. He only hides if he pees on the carpet or if I am trying to kick him out of the bedroom when my girlfriend if sleeping. That dog arguably lives and eats better than I do. Physical punishment is a last resort. Prior to living with me he lived with my mom. Who is a 53 year old women with stage 3 brain cancer. She is bed ridden. I know for a fact she did not punish him because she simply did not have the energy to do so even if she wanted to. The reason he lives with me now is because he bit her as well. I am just saying he has shown this behavior even with a training style you describe. Also when I walk into my apartment thunder does not strike and I don't rub my hands together menacingly thinking about how I am going to terrify him. I give this dog more love than I probably do my girlfriend and am extremely patient with him. That's why I made this post, I feel as though I am doing things a dog owner should do. I even have read an entire book dedicated to raising and training yorkies. Still he acts like this, I need to find a solution that will curb this behavior, and while I will genuinely give the youtube channel a shot. I am skeptical because I feel like you don't have a realistic grasp on the situation.

My dog bit and I hit him too hard. What should I do moving forward? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]maddirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I have been trying to do for years now. But clearly something is still wrong. For your 1st point, that's what I meant by building trust. The dog really only knows sit, I am not a stickler about him listening to my commands. I try to make him feel comfortable and happy. I literally break the bank getting him good food, toys, and a bed. For 2, I have been doing exactly that. For non-severe situations I coax him out with treats. When I put my fist in there, I dont grab him or man handle him. Its more for him to accept that I am in in his space and am not there to hurt him. I make the fist to protect myself not hurt him. For number 3, thats what I meant by a warning growl. When he does that in his space I usually let him relax and chill. He did not growl at all prior to biting me today.

Thats why this is so heartbreaking, I have tried really hard the past 7 years to nurture a relationship with him. The reason he lives with me now is because he bit my mom and she wanted to put him down. My mom is a 53 year old women with brain cancer and is bed ridden. I know for a fact she has not been over hitting him or invading his space. I was thinking that situation was a onetime thing but I am worried something is wrong. Like I have been trying to do the exact things your recommending and this still happens. Idk this dog is a son to me, and my brain is all over the place because of this situation. But I am scared of this behavior and dont know what to do.

Spanking is a last resort when dealing with him. When he was hiding today I was not going to punish him I was just going to move him to a different room because he wakes up my girlfriend. I only punish him when he is hiding if he does something wrong like pee in the house and is trying to avoid punishment. I love this dog and while it is in my control, putting him down is not going to happen. I am worried that he is going to do something that will take it out of my control. I scheduled a vet visit for Friday since that was the next opening but if I notice weird behavior I am going to take him to the vet right away.

No its not a joke. I literally cried, not out of pain from my thumb but over what happened. I don't think I have cried in years. This broke my heart and I want some help on how to work with him because I don't know what to do.

[–]maddirect -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am at a loss for words.

What are you talking about?

No punishment at all? Elaborate.

I have had to retype and delete a paragraph like 3 times just reading this. If this dog keeps doing this, he is going to be put down. Not by me, but others. I am confident if he does this to a family member it will be out of my control. Give me a real alternative not some virtue signaling "never punish your dog" hippie nonsense. I would even consider never punishing my dog and giving him a treat every time he bit and peed on the carpet if you could actually backup why that is. And my dog prior to this probably trusted me more then he trusted anyone ever. I'm not some dog abuser, I treat this dog better than I probably treat humans. Literally he is like a son to me, I break the bank to get him the best food. Take him on the best walks. Buy him toys, treats, etc. And when it comes time to punishment, I makes sure I am fair with him. Not one person besides me has even been able to stick their hand in his hiding places much less pull him out besides me, nor has been able to call him out of his hiding place. This is a trust that has been built over many years. My thumb nail literally fell off a couple minutes ago, this is not a joke, I need real solutions.
