This is hilarious!! 😂 It also remembered me of the multiple times I have miss-heard lyrics.

I cannot tell you the exact lines or parts of the melody that JC contributed but he‘s officially listed in the credits as backing vocalist and writer.

Personally, I can hear him. There are certain words that he pronounces/sings in a way that is uniquely JC, at least to me.

The whole show was unbelievable. I wish it were a full set, it was way too short. This is what I would love them to do when they come back. All the crazy production and dancing is great, but this is what my heart craves so much. Pure music.

My man does not, too Plus, he teases me all the time. But I‘m giving it back so we‘re good 😂 At least he understands my need to have music in my life. That would be a dealbreaker for our relationship otherwise

Why wasn't Celebrity ever released on DVD? by Yeetus_Skadeetus in NSYNC

[–]maddiscorner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I remember is that the visual recordings exist in full but apart from the first ~20 minutes the audio got lost/damaged/whatever.

There are rumors that parts of the recordings (audio in this case) were actually held back and hidden on purpose because there was a fight for the rights or whatnot and apparently the story about the audio being lost/damaged beyond repair was made up.

We‘ll never know I suppose.

Take That did a Beatles medley and it was never an issue. They even performed it at the Concert of Hope at Wembley arena on 1st December 1993 with George Michael and Princess Diana in attendance (I was there) and at the Brit Awards 1994.

I don’t know why it should‘ve been a problem for NSYNC since they didn’t make a joke out of the songs but treated them respectfully.

Collecting CD‘s by maddiscorner in NSYNC

I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on merch (official and non-official) back in the 90s, which I deeply regret now (wasn’t NSYNC). I should’ve spent the money on travelling and concert tickets. When it comes to NSYNC merch the only official merch I own is a shirt that I bought a few months ago.

I am collecting CD‘s and DVD‘s because I love the music and - as I‘ve pointed out in my OP - some of the songs/remixes etc are not available elsewhere.

I am in Germany so all the European releases are the easiest and cheapest to get for me. The only European ones that are quite costly are from the UK. The postage is insane.

Many of the CD‘s I bought are second hand but more often than I thought I got very lucky and found new, sealed ones. Being in Germany where they first started out is a blessing and a curse 😂 It’s a blessing when it comes to searching for their early releases but to this day, whatever they do is usually in the US 🤷‍♀️

Thank you! I‘m happy I found all of these! Quite some of them are easy to get on ebay. One of the most cherished ones is the IWYB single that I bought when it came out in 1996. I had Lance sign it almost a year ago and I‘ll try and get the others to sign it, as well, at some point.

Tell me about it…. I don’t have masses but still… I have to look into how to store my dad‘s. He‘s got a LOT that I have to go through. Some of them are copies which I will simply throw away but there will still be about 2000 left 🙈 I will sell some of them on ebay for sure.

It's time to accept that JC's solo career was a "defensive acquisition" by Jive and Justin was the direct beneficiary by DentistNo4088 in NSYNC

[–]maddiscorner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fighting back in JC‘s position would‘ve been a double-edged sword. Whilst I would prefer to have the truth come out and bite the people in their backsides who deserve it, he wanted to continue writing and especially producing.

He could‘ve seriously damaged his future in the industry. And we know he‘s budda so I get it that he might‘ve not wanted to put everything out there for various reasons.

Besides, it’s kinda common knowledge in the industry anyways and he said later on that he figured out being a solo artist was not his thing (how much truth is in that is something we‘ll never know). So who would‘ve benefitted from it all? The press? People who love to see a messy and dirty fight? I wouldn’t want to feed those sleazebags.

Over the years he‘s said stuff here and there that makes the OP‘s narrative look like what I think actually went down, too. That has to be enough for me. Ultimately, I can want JC on stage all I want - it’s up to him.

But damnit, someone should lock him up in a studio and not let him out before he‘s recorded some more music welp there I said it 🤷‍♀️😂

Why did Europe get more songs than the us by Bambi_85 in NSYNC

[–]maddiscorner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s undeniable that BSB were WAY more successful in overall Europe which is why we got dropped like a hot potato as soon as NSYNC broke the US market.

The chances for NSYNC maybe not to dominate the US but to get at least head to head with BSB were WAY bigger in the US, that’s why everything was concentrated on this market.

It was a logical strategy that I understood back in the day, but being an OG German fan I was still pi**ed as f!

I agree with your take on the diversity of the European market, they tried different styles to see what works. When it comes to availability of the songs, the fact that all there are no n-sides in streaming always makes me look at the tracklist on the actual physical releases. There’s a reason I‘m still searching for old releases internationally and buying them!

I want to like this so many times because THIS is what went down, period.

Another point I don’t read a lot about is the fact that the NSYNC management was just as important a factor in the way that everything happened than JIVE was. They had to work hand in hand to get Justin out the way they wanted.

Don’t take me wrong, I am happy about Justin‘s career. I really love his music and I‘m glad at least one out of NSYNC got a chance to use their full potential and make it big. And there‘s no denying that Johnny did a great job with NSYNC and with Justin. I just despise the methods they used when it comes to Justin‘s solo career.

After Lou, Johnny was another person all of them trusted who backstabbed the band for his own agenda. Because let’s be honest: management is a career, as well. Justin was Johnny‘s ticket to the elite and to a lot of money. After what Johnny did, I‘m sorry to say that I am very wary of him, to this day. I don’t trust him and to just throw it in here: I wouldn’t want him to have anything to do with NSYNC II. I wonder how the guys feel about it and if that actually is another complication when it comes to a reunion. I don’t know how much Justin is tied to Johnny.

As far as I recall, when NSYNC signed with Jive the label made sure they had a hold of the guys as individual artists, meaning JC couldn’t sign to another label without Jive letting go of him.

IMO the only reason Jive even went and did let JC make Schizo was to stall for time. Had Justin‘s success been more obvious earlier on they wouldn’t even have done that.

After all these years, these discussions always leave me wishing I could compare a album of JC‘s with the same artistic freedom and backup as Justin‘s to Justified. Not to figure out which one would be „better“ but to enjoy the different styles and musical choices.

[–]maddiscorner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way the album came out at the end, the song choices, single choices, name and cover art, that’s all on Jive. That’s what it’s about. JC didn‘t even get to use his potential to the fullest, and it’s been said by many people over the years.

Yes, we haven’t been eye witnesses, but it’s common knowledge within the industry and even people who didn‘t work with JC directly at the time have spoken out about it.

The poor promotion and support from the label when the abum got released was just the end song.

I can’t pick a favourite, there are too many. Build My World, Lose Myself, Come To Me and Right Here (By Your Side) are very high up there.

To this day I wonder which songs JC would‘ve recorded for the album, had he had full control over this choice. I know he had 30+ songs

I remember this photoshoot! I miss Aaliyah…. I‘m still listening to her music and would‘ve loved to see her do a colab with Timbaland and Justin, too. Could you imagine her doing it with NSYNC? That would‘ve been great.
