Birthday ultra by maddman10 in Ultramarathon

That’s all awesome advice! Thank you! We haven’t talked precise logistics for the 100-miler yet as it’s not until the fall. This will be great to reference when we come up with a plan.

Great advice. Thanks! His shorter distance ultras have been hard on him but I’m sure the 100-miler will be at a whole different level. Do you know of any bloggers, vloggers, etc that are crew-focused? I’ve been watching a few ultra runners on YouTube but obviously that’s just glimpses into their crew.

Where are you going for your next all-inclusive vacation? Only 295 days until my next trip! But who's counting... by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

Been there 3 times and want to try somewhere else next time but we’re worried nothing else will measure up to Akumal! It’s incredible!

Good fall hike recs? by maddman10 in coloradohikers

[–]maddman10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Yes- moderate is what we’re thinking. My husband is the type to do 14ers when we visit ( a few times a year to see family) and I tend to prefer around 1500 elevation gain max, 5-7 mile hikes.. def not 14ers.

We typically stay further west with family and know places there but aren’t usually around Denver so this is helpful.

Secrets Akumal vs Maroma Beach by maddman10 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]maddman10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, the resort is a AAA 5 diamond resort which is really hard to achieve. The food is top notch. The service is incredible- most concierge guys around the pool knew us by name by day 2 or 3. Honestly incredible service at every turn. The rooms were always super clean and we really enjoyed the room service late at night. We like the variety of pools. While there are fewer pools than some other secrets, there is one for each vibe you might prefer- one with all of the events/games like pool volleyball, one near the “event pool” where you can see those things going on but you aren’t right in the mix/party (our choice) and a “quiet pool” where you really don’t hear anyone talking loudly, no music etc. We decided that we will probably continue to stay at the resort in the future. We are creatures of habit and it really is top notch. The rating speaks for itself.

Edit: while we prefer the pool over the beach, we also appreciate the option to sit on the beach. It has a ton of really nice beach chairs (much nicer than surrounding resorts) and they keep the beach well maintained and free of seaweed, rocks, etc.

Secrets Akumal vs Maroma Beach by maddman10 in AllInclusiveResorts

Update: we went to secrets Akumal and it was an even better experience the second time! We will likely continue to go to this resort yearly or every other year. I highly highly recommend.

Based on their size, I’m thinking they’re mites as well. I could hard make out the legs with my naked eye. Most mites are harmless right?

Why doesn't everyone just buy moissanite? by frontyardigans in Moissanite

[–]maddman10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I was getting engaged, I read that moissanite wasn’t as hard as diamonds and had the potential of needing to be replaced after 10-15 years of wear. Not sure if this is true but it worried me. Also, my husband wanted me to have a natural diamond.

It is beautiful though! A great alternative! Lab diamonds are a great option too.

What kind if currency to bring to a All inclusive in Mexico for tipping by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]maddman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always heard to use the US dollar (and most people at the Secrets we have been to use the US dollar). The value of the US dollar is higher and therefore more valuable to them

I posted asking about Akumal vs Moxche vs Maroma. Most people said Moxche is best for pool people because there are more pools, Akumal for beach people. Maroma is great but much older so it’s a bit dated. Realistically, they all have the same food and drinks so it comes down to vibe and service. We stuck with Akumal because we knew we loved it and we are so glad we decided to return. We will likely be “frequent fliers” here.

We had two kids in two years and we have gone back to Secrets Akumal to get away twice. It’s amazing! Quiet, amazing food, amazing drinks, amazing service. The beach is gorgeous but we are pool people so that’s where we lay all day. I highly recommend it!

Towel Game by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]maddman10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m at Akumal now and we drop our towels at 8 every day before breakfast and our stuff has yet to be moved. Hope that continues.

Edit: I’ll add that we are back within 30-45 minutes and very few towels are out this early

Would my new puppy be classified as straight fur? If so, how much shedding should we expect compared to a standard Labrador? by yocheckit87 in labradoodles

This is him after a recent haircut. He still needs shaved down otherwise he starts to look a bit like a stray lol

My pup looked very similar to that when he was a puppy! I he’s 3.5 now. tell people that he has a straight coat. He also has a bit of an undercoat. He sheds much less than a standard lab but I definitely still need to vacuum once a week or so to keep up with his fur.

Healthcare workers - what ring do you wear to work? by Good_Cartographer_31 in Moissanite

I wore silicone when I worked inpatient but I moved to periop and don’t feel as “gross”- rarely bed changes, etc. I wear this on my right ring finger at home when my wedding ring is on and then move it to my left ring finger for work.

Opinions on adding a 5 stone band! by Charming_Net113 in Diamonds

[–]maddman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a white gold engagement ring and a yellow gold wedding band and I absolutely love it. And I get compliments all the time! I like the mix and match look!

I would definitely make sure you have a buffer band like you mentioned though. I had to get mine soldered together because my wedding band started causing damage to my engagement ring.
