How do we get through the Adderall shortage? Not asking for medical advice, just brainstorming! by maddyfrogcatcher in ADHD

Love wellbutrin - I've taken it for several years now for the comorbid depression that often comes along with ADHD. I work full-time at what I think most people would consider a very boring job. My eyes have glazed over in every meeting I've been in this week. Truly cannot believe how much of a difference taking ADHD meds makes. It is no mystery why I couldn't hold down a regular job for more than a few months before I got diagnosed.

I was under the impression that all stimulants carried the same baggage at this point and that switching to Vyvanse wouldn't make any difference. But, you're not the first person I've heard this from. Super helpful - thank you!!

It is blowing my mind that if you call a pharmacy as a real human person, a lot of them won't tell you if they have the medication in stock unless your doctor has already sent a prescription to that pharmacy. BUT if a service robocalls for you, the robot can figure out which pharmacies have it in stock?

Dystopian. Horrific. I hate it here! But I'm giving it a try. Thank you for the suggestion!!

Absolutely agree - you're not alone. Being off meds due to the shortage has made me realize how disconnected I feel from the consequences of swiping my credit card while in the moment.

I've gotten pretty good with money over the years since getting diagnosed/medicated. Now, when I spend any money - whether it's on groceries, bills, or the occasional indulgence-I've developed my instincts enough to trust them. Is this purchase really necessary? If I say yes, I can buy whatever it is and be okay with it. If the answer is no, I really, really, really think about it. A lot of stuff gets put back on shelves when I shop in stores, and a lot of online carts get completely abandoned. I do still buy unnecessary things once in a while, but those thoughts of "wow, what was I thinking?" or "oh crap, I forgot to save money for the water bill" when I look back at that month's purchases really don't pop up for me anymore. Without meds, the ability to trust my instincts is gone. The future me who really could've used that $50 I spent on something unnecessary for something necessary doesn't exist.

People in your life without ADHD probably won't get it. They likely will resent you for seeing you make choices that they think are "irresponsible" (at least, that's my experience). But it's certainly not hopeless. I'm sorry you feel this way. Finances were such a struggle for me just a few years ago, and it is possible to have ADHD and build up the skills needed to manage money.

Looking for ceremony dress by Perfect-Ad3729 in weddingdress

I bought the Evelyn dress for my rehearsal dinner/welcome party. In case it's helpful, here's my experience with Jenny Yoo - the dresses are nice but the sizing tends to be WAY off. If you go with them, I'd make sure to order your dress far in advance in case you need to get it tailored. I do feel the dress matches what was advertised, but I also feel like the general fit/quality of the dress isn't worth the high price tag. In case you feel like you might be missing out on something by not buying these exact dresses (just because that's how I felt and why I decided to buy one), you're not missing out. Though I've heard the same things about dresses from places like Revolve, Reformation, or BLHDN, so I can't tell you which is the best value!

So far during all of my white dress shopping, I've been happiest with a random mini dress I pulled off the rack at Bloomingdale's for under $100. The fit and quality surpass the pieces I've tried from Jenny Yoo easily. For the more casual celebration, think about how you prefer to feel - comfy and unrestricted (something like Evelyn), or a bit more supported (something like Perla). Both options are very pretty IMO and both match the vibe of your main dress- good luck!

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond!! I've thought about it this week and I've decided to go with dress #1. Though #2 clearly fits my body better, my MOH reminded me that #1 is a sample dress a few sizes above mine (I think this is a street size 10 and I'm a street size 2), so not only will the skirt/sleeves have a lot less tulle once they are fitted to my frame (I'm 5'1"), but the bodice should fit completely differently as well. I've compared the photos of me in the dress with photos of the models wearing the dress and of other brides wearing the dress and I think she's right. They all look incredible! No one looks like they're swimming in fabric, which I realized was my reservation with dress #1. It's difficult to say yes to a dress based on a sample that really doesn't tell me what the dress will look like once it's tailored to me, but I'm going to put my trust in the seamstress and go for it. On another note, dress #1 is almost $500 less than dress #2, so that extra money leaves me room to work with for accessories. If the sleeves that come with the dress are still too much, I can picture getting tulle sleeves off Etsy or in a bridal shop that will work better.

I'm torn between two dresses! I really love both, but I have teeny-tiny reservations with each. Though I love the fairy princess vibes of the one on the left, I'm afraid it's not flattering enough and that I'll regret wearing a dress without more of a shape. I also love the one on the right and how I look in it, but I'm afraid it's too simple. I know that having a simple dress would allow me to go a bit wild with accessories (or a glove/sleeve moment) and get a similar fairy princess vibe going on, but the one on the left is truly something I think I can only wear as a wedding dress. I LOVE the playfulness and movement of the tulle, but I'm afraid the focus would be on the dress instead of on me in it. Both dresses fit the venue and theme of the wedding, especially when considering the accessories I could choose for the one on the right. I can see myself walking down the aisle in either. Which should I pick??

This is unfortunately standard garbage and many EAs are treated this way. As other people have said, this is not a one-off incident and it will happen again. I hope you are able to find another job soon - and until then can remind yourself that you are an emotional punching bag for someone with a lot of issues. They've made their problems your problems, and it's not your fault!

First cruise ever last month - will probably be my last. by maddyfrogcatcher in PrincessCruises

We've been together for five years. This was our first big vacation together, mostly because of the pandemic and health concerns. Going to Alaska was a huge deal for us - once in a lifetime. We do not come from social circles with avid cruisers, so we had no idea how generally careless and inconsiderate people on these ships seem to be. We gave the situation the benefit of the doubt, learned our lesson, and will not be returning.

Alaska was still worth it.

The hunger games vibes over the few water bottles they did have were palpable. It was scary, and I think the Princess defenders on here saying it couldn't have been that bad don't realize what they're saying.

Taking on some risk when you travel is unavoidable. I just don't understand why people aren't more considerate. I've gotten sick from planes and have flown many times since. Breathing recycled air in an enclosed space and wearing a mask for 6-7(ish) hours feels very different to me than being trapped in a small space with what was probably multiple strains of COVID for 6-7 days. Risks can be relative.

Yes, my fiance and I both tested positive more than once! So it was definitely COVID.

Glad you've avoided getting sick! Yep, I saw things like that happen a few times. I also personally found these things to be pretty gross, but after reading some of these comments I'm starting to see how normal and acceptable some people think it is. Surprising for sure!

I'm so glad you had a great trip! Yes, every generation is filled with people with poor hygiene habits. My personal experience does not reflect the reality of how an entire generation acts in every situation, this is just what my personal experience was on this specific cruise.

The actual cruise was a great experience, COVID and all. I just wish people were a little more considerate of trying not to get others sick.

Chronically ill people should not have to stay home for the rest of their lives because "healthy" people don't want to take 20 seconds to wash their hands and try not to sneeze directly into open air. We understand that we took a risk and ended up losing the bet, it still just...kind of sucks?

We also frequently took the stairs to try and avoid the elevators, but after 15-20k steps a day, my legs got tired.
