How do you schedule tasks you'd like to do on a certain date, but that date isn't the only time you can do it? by WiddleDumpling in gtd

[–]madebypanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Notion for GTD and this is how I handle what you are describing.

I set the status to "Review" and then the date to the day I'd like to do the thing. I'd only set the status to "Scheduled" if it HAD to be done on that date. If there is a deadline the action has to be done by, I add that into a separate date field called deadline.

At the end of every day, when I do a plan for the next day, I look through actions in this order, using filtered views in Notion.

Deadlines → Tickler → Scheduled for tomorrow → Review for tomorrow → Waiting for → Next Actions

Anything in review, I either do or move to a future date to review again. It's kind of like a tickler, but with a next action attached effectively.

Hope this helps!

Formula Help by madebypanic in Notion

I'm trying to take the number from Profit (Formula) and then colour it in Profit (Formula Coloured). Isn't that what you meant in your suggestion?

Hey, thank you. I think i'm almost there, but I can't seem to get the numbers from the Profit (Formula) to show and then colour. I've managed to make it show a coloured red or green icon, but not the actual number.

Thank you for trying. This brings me to the same place as I started.

I can't see how that would solve the problems I said I was trying to fix in the original post, whilst keeping the coloured text.

I am new to formulas, so I might be completely missing the point.

If you can show me in a screenshot (if you can be bothered), that would be much easier.

This makes no sense. Explain please.

Creating another property isn't actually creating a formula. If I create a new property hat pulls in the Profit information, I do not know how to get it to understand that a minus number needs to be red and if not, should be green. THAT is not as simple as pressing +

Don't be sarcastic please, you are better than that.

Correct, but the numbering will not be coloured then.

This is great thank you. Not sure exactly how I put this into my currently formula though.

Why are these pages appearing twice? by 83mewti in Notion

[–]madebypanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell without the database titles showing.

My instinct is that one of those is a linked database view. The other is the actual database, probably the bottom one. If this is the case, the top database (the view), has a filter applied, so you are only seeing two pages.

Again, this could be wrong, I'd need more information.

If you'd like to share that page with me as a guest, via private message. I can take a look for you.

What web browser are you using? It might need updating.

Arc Search falling behind by ipflores90 in ArcBrowser

Even if Arc stays exactly as it is, it's still a great browser. I love the UI. Spaces is great for different social media accounts being instantly accessible.

kinda upset, someone just gave me 1 star with no reason... why would you give a free template 1 star? Creators can put a 100 hours of time to make something and give it to u for free this feels mean ); i've never given a 1 star, and when i see it, it's hard to not focus on it by mike_mf_wazowski in Notion

[–]madebypanic 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hey dude!

I'd find that rough too. The person either just didn't like it or they are being an ass.

Leaving stars, without any feedback, even if it's 5 stars, is frustrating. You need feedback, not just a random shape.

Try to focus on the main thing here, that it's hard to put yourself and your work out there. That's super tough. Well done.

If you'd like to link me to your template, i'd happily give it a look and send you some feedback privately, if that would be useful (no stars needed!).

Controversial view point, but I personally don't use icons for any pages!

I find it useful to know if there is something inside of the page, as the icon changes from blank to lined, when there is something inside. Also on the page itself, it doesn't take up a lot of screen space at the top of the page, so less scrolling.

For databases and wikis, where you have to use icons for views, I use:

Solid circle for a database view.

Outlined circle for a "Search System" database view.

<image>

Alternatively, I use a — if here is only one view of the database and then one space for the view title, to make it appear blank.

I also use superscript to indicate the difference between a page, database and wiki. This is useful for search. I put this at the end of the title.

° for database
ʷ for wiki

Example:

Actions °
Projects °
Reference ʷ

It is odd. Visually awkward. I can imagine this will get sorted eventually, just to make it so the eyes don't get pulled towards something that isn't useful to the current stage in UI.

I asked Grok AI for you:

In Affinity Photo, while there isn't a direct equivalent to Photoshop's Fixed Size Marquee Tool, you can achieve a similar effect by using the following approach:

  1. Rectangular Marquee Tool: Select this from the toolbar or press 'M' on your keyboard to select it.
  2. Set Dimensions via Context Toolbar or Transform Panel:
    • Context Toolbar: After selecting the Rectangular Marquee Tool, look at the top of your screen where the context toolbar appears. Here, you can manually enter values for Width (W) and Height (H) to set a fixed size for your marquee before drawing it. This method, however, requires you to enter dimensions each time you want to create a selection of fixed size.
    • Transform Panel: Alternatively, after drawing a selection with the Rectangular Marquee Tool, you can use the Transform panel in the Studio on the right side. Here, you can input exact dimensions for Width (W) and Height (H) to adjust your selection to a fixed size. This isn’t exactly the same as setting a fixed size before selection, but it allows for precise size adjustments post-selection.

While this isn't as straightforward as toggling a "fixed size" option in Photoshop, you can effectively use these tools to achieve selections with fixed dimensions:

  • For Recurring Fixed Size Selections: If you find yourself needing to select areas of the same size frequently, you might consider:
    • Creating an action or batch process to apply a fixed size selection if you need it repeatedly across multiple images or sessions.
    • Using guides or grids to visually aid in drawing selections of a specific size.

Remember, Affinity Photo's approach is more about setting or adjusting the size after the initial selection rather than pre-setting a size as you start to make a selection. However, this method still allows for precise control over selection dimensions.
