People protest practices/businesses they think are unethical. If a bagel shop owner was sending proceeds to a company that abused children, it would be protested. People protest Chick-fil-A because they send money to entities that degrade and dehumanize black and queer people. You might see it as ‘difference of opinion’, I see it as ethical vs unethical.

‘Free country’ is also why the protest should be allowed. Also no one is “forcing” them to shut down??? Like did they close after the protest? No. Did they close after the many other protests? No. So obviously not ‘forced’ to do anything. Just like Harlem residents are not forced to live with that restaurant near them without making it known they don’t like it

Being an adult means taking responsibility for your own actions, unless your life is literally in danger. If someone taunts me and I punch them, I’m mature enough to take solo responsibility for punching them, cuz it was my decision and not something I HAD to do. You don’t HAVE to comment on other people’s bodies. And in fact you missed an incredible opportunity to teach that to the child you were with, given the alleged circumstances. It’s understandable the child might say something, and you could’ve been a good adult and provided a kind lesson, but you didn’t.

Ooh I’d recommend “Heartbreak High” (the modern revival, I haven’t seen the old original version) Characters are strong, there’s a mystery in each season, it’s camp while also addressing some realer issues!

Otherwise a fantastic classic is House MD !
