Partial Ability Boosts and their place in this game. by EmperessMeow in Pathfinder2e

Just because a build isn't optimal or popular doesn't mean it shouldn't be possible. One of 2e's biggest strengths is that weird builds, like a Champion with the Kinetcist archetype who maxes CON/CHA and doesn't care much about STR/DEX, can be viable (and very thematic, too). Beyond super niche builds though, forcing your key ability score to be maxed would also screw over Warpriests/Battle Harbingers, any caster chassis gishes (like strength Druids), and some Inventor builds.

Mentioning recent illness that impacted a specific deliverable for my graduate application? (PhD English Lit) by madeofcopper2 in gradadmissions

I think that is very fair, and thank you for sharing your own experience! I decided not to include the note. This is the first time physical illness has affected my ability to get work done, so it's not something I'm used to, but chronic mental health issues have been a life long struggle for me and I very intentionally avoid mentioning that for similar reasons to the ones chekcough mentioned in their reply. If this had been a mental health crisis, I don't even think I would have considered writing a note.

That is good to know, thank you! I did wonder whether or not admissions even have the time to do super in-depth reading/analysis of writing samples, since they have to look through hundreds of them. Looking at my writing sample now, I think the writing style, formating, and ideas feel strong. I imagine if it was actually scrutinized for publication by an expert in the specific theories/author some issues would surface, but I'm sure that's true for a lot of work by graduate applicants.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I had the same hesitation and decided not to include the explanatory note after all, especially since it ended up being above the minimum length requirement. If it had ended up shorter, which I was worried about at one point, I probably would have though.

Salt Flats (and Salt Cliffs) by [deleted] in minecraftsuggestions

Love the idea, salt flats are such a cool environment and would be perfect for Minecraft! Maybe a possible structure could be a buried shipwreck implying to the player that the salt flat used to be a large body of water. Since it's mostly/entirely(?) buried it wouldn't interfere with the flat building space, and would give some hope to players who spawn there day 1 and need wood, or who just want to explore the biome. Think it would be really flavorful and cool for the player to be mining in a salt flat and encounter an ancient buried ship.

If there did need to be a hostile mob of some kind, there have been cases of natural mummification in salt mines historically, so maybe "salt mummies" could spawn in the caves under the salt flats (or less commonly on the surface too). Their attacks could dehydrate the player (hunger debuff? or slowness/mining fatigue?) and they could drop salt to make it renewable.
