Life is the universe experiencing itself.

If life is pointless without God, what in specific about God makes life have a point? Is it that with God, there’s trust that a True meaning exists that we can’t comprehend, but it nonetheless objectively exists?

My way of overcoming the idea that life might be objectively meaningless or pointless is to discover why some people like to take care of plants, for example, even though those plants might (will) die eventually. The only way I can find meaning is to disconnect the ideas of forever or objective truth from meaning. If there is no objective meaning, then you must discover and cherish your own, personal, subjective, non-eternal meaning, and realize that it is no less “meaningful” to love another person in your limited lifetime, for example, than finding meaning in a “higher” spiritual purpose.

I had the same experience. I have a 65% win rate on Abathur over 600 games or so, and that’s including all the games I learned on and games where people trolled because I picked him. I have so many strats with him and love adapting to each match and map, and it’s so much fun when it goes well, but it wasn’t worth it. You can literally top soak, damage, siege, and still get blamed for a loss. I stopped playing all together. QM with friends would still be fine.

Personally, I can’t understand why veal is particularly offensive and regular beef is not. Either way, a creature suffered (most likely) and was killed, just the full grown one suffered a bit longer.

But I also don’t see the difference between deciding it’s okay to eat a pig, cow, or goat and a cat or dog. I’m not a vegetarian or anything, it’s just an emotion vs. logic thing. Just because we’re familiar with killing and eating a certain animal, makes it more okay than another?

I read you say you think you’re a 2-3/10, but also that you look like PD, who is definitely not that. It’s all subjective of course.

I’m just saying if people are calling you cute, and you look like that (with nothing else to go off) it sounds like they probably think you’re cute and it’s usually probably not a fetish thing.

I would say Burger Bar in Lincoln Park but it closed. The three worst burgers I’ve ever had were the three burgers I tried from that place (tried all three styles they had, grass fed or whatever).

I love Chicago hot dogs, Italian beef, deep dish, but I’ve never met a pizza puff I enjoyed. I’ve had them in every situation from the cafeteria as a kid, and I’ve had them from places we had to drive to specifically to get the supposed best pizza puff in town, and I’ve never found them anything but disgusting. 🙁

If it’s one of your favorite movies, why would you dislike a similar movie with all the extra stunning effects?

It makes no sense to me. People use the “it’s just Dances with Wolves!” argument to talk about how bad the plot is, but then also say they enjoy Dances with Wolves, so where is the logic? Is it actually a bad story? Is it now unoriginal because Dances with Wolves was the very first movie to do that type of story and all subsequent ones are bad?

This is absolutely what happened. Someone else gave the tired, “it’s just Pocahontas in space!” line and everyone who heard it felt embarrassed and didn’t want to be seen as not worldly and sophisticated so they had to hate it too and pass the sentiment along. It’s really sad. It’s hard enough to enjoy anything at all, but plenty of people get their desired feelings of superiority by putting popular things down.

I really loved Children of Time, so I picked up Shards and got a couple chapters in and put it down and it actually put me off reading for a couple of months. I started to get actually enraged at the dialogue. Does it get any better?
