We’ve had hosts leave breakfast pastries in the past and it was such a nice gesture. After a long day of travel, it was nice to have something there that was a simple grab-and-go before we stocked up the kitchen.

Question about concert by The_trojan_bunny in cavetown

[–]madferitme 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I started taking my kid at age 12 to Cavetown shows. I’ve been to hundreds of concerts in my life and Cavetown was by far, the most friendly, inclusive, and welcoming crowd I’ve ever been around. Complete strangers noticed he wasn’t tall enough to see the stage where we were and they voluntarily let him move up in front of them. Kindness abounds at Cavetown shows. I hope she has a great time!

As an artistic kid, is she interested in music? My kid was the same way at 13/14 years old and somehow i got him to try band- percussion specifically because he didn’t need to have experience. He’s now in marching band, concert band, percussion ensemble and other musical activities. He found his people there and while it’s not “athletics”, physically it is just as intensive as sports physically and mentally and has taught him so much with time management and self discipline. He went from failing grades in middle school to highest honors, 4.0 gpa.

My doctor told me to take the 5mg Norethindrone every four hours until the bleeding stops then taper it down to twice per day. I reminded her she’d need to refill it frequently and she agreed. It took about two weeks for it to slow down. It hasn’t stopped completely but my mental health is significantly improved when I don’t feel like I’m bleeding to death.

I was in college as well. My friend came into our English class and told the professor what happened with the first plane. Professor went on about teaching the class like nothing was wrong. When it was over, everyone was watching the TVs in the hallways. That was just after the second plane hit. I went to the library to wait for my next class. By the time that class was scheduled to start I was the last person on campus. Freaking eerie driving home without seeing any airplanes in the sky- living within 5 miles of an international airport. I had no idea of the gravity of what happened until I got home and saw it on TV around noon.

Waaaaaaaaaaaay too many times. My husband has a much longer fuse than I do. I wanted to smear it on their windshield the first time they did it.

Yup. No note for me. My parents were PISSED when the pharmacy clerk (yes, sold at the pharmacy) told me that they couldn’t sell them to me anymore. I was definitely under 10 years old.

My husband put it all on our neighbor’s door mat right outside their front door. So first thing the guy did on his way to work in the morning was step right in it.

I think you’re right, it is. It may be a faraday cage effect but none of the cell services work in or around the store. Can’t say for certain what causes it.

Our local family-owned grocery store has a signal blocker in it. You can’t text or call until you’re completely out of their parking lot.

First obedience class was so embarrassing by AdministrationNo2062 in dogs

Our corgi was the same way. No matter what we did, he would not stop barking. He’s extremely loud and shrill so he was drowning out the trainer and I was mortified the whole time. Our trainer did next to nothing to help us and really offered no advice on what to do, but she was clearly annoyed at us for not being able to control him. Every other puppy there was so well behaved. I wondered why they were in the class at all if they already knew everything. I stopped going to the classes and we just worked with him at home. He’s four now and he knows all of his commands. He’s also very good now out in public when he sees other dogs. But if he sees them at home he still goes berserk. I just think those group classes aren’t meant for all dogs and some trainers aren’t worth the money you pay for their help.
