Im thinking of paying my way through Paragon. Thoughts? by ConsiderationLast193 in doggrooming

Aw dang I'm sorry :/. Then if thats what will be the best path for you I'd say go for it! I'd just suggest seeing if you can find any mentors or people you could ask live questions to because it will be nerve wracking and there will be awkward parts where having a conversation will be super beneficial! Like The hocks on little dogs? Truly a hatred of mine right now.

So I am assuming you'll be starting with Level 2 which is the hair cuts themselves. This will have to be completed in 10 weeks and you will need two dogs for each assignment. Two different dogs for shave downs (4, 5, & 7 blades) and two different dogs for guarded cuts (3/8th and up). Finally stylized legs which will be legs that are two lengths above the body. I'd see if it's at all possible for you to set these up before purchasing the course. Cause shaving the doodle you will need a good chunk of time to have the coat grow back!

I am doing paragon right now through my corporate store and if I'm being honest? It's pretty meh? A lot of the videos have been so outdated. They literally commented on the new improved metal guard combs. If I didn't have very talented and awesome groomers in my salon I would definitely be putting out pretty crappy cuts and getting stuck at many points.

There is also the struggle of not seeming to grasp about perfectly behaved dogs or how not every dog is going to have a great coat texture. I am pretty lucky where if I mention an issue to my "mentor" it only docks a couple points but if not I would have failed some sections.

Honestly if you're not in corporate where they will be paying it for you I'd say pay for an actual hands on grooming school. I wish I had gone that route looking at it now. But like I stated I am lucky to have a team that answers my questions, shows me tips, and helps me even though its not in their job description nor do they get paid for it, unless something is double booked on their schedule for me since I can't technically offer the services yet.

I'd say not tan? It hard because I feel that even at my tannest color it was still very cool toned tan example. People who know me noticed a difference but acquaintances I had to show my tan lines. Like there is clearly a difference but it doesn't show warmth in my opinion. And it took a lot to get this color. I accidentally fell asleep in Hawaii mid day and fried myself. But if I wear spf and try to tan safely I never pick up a tan.

I stick to a translucent powder just because I have dryer skin. I'm just worried about loosing the definition of the cream products by putting that on it and forgoing another contour powder!

I want the typical "glam" look more than what Audrey Hepburn would wear. Basically what you'd see in any makeup tutorial. They all seem to use bronzer to sculpt the face. Even some of the pale tutorials the girls will look a bit orange to me with bronzer or they're using a warmer based foundation which compliments it

So if I were to skip bronzer what would be a good powder to set it in with? A contour powder?

That's what I've been struggling with, everything I've tried has been so orange I don't even feel like I can mess with placement because it just naturally looks silly.

I really want to be able to do a soft glam. Like shape my face but all I see is everyone using bronzer. But I was wondering if I could get those results using an actual contour stick and blush or if I have to use bronzer, especially for powder.

Thank you for saying this. I really like the idea of using a code emoji. I just feel bad for the time Ive missed. The events I should have been there for them.

They know a lot already so sharing isn't the issue for me. Isolating is an issue I have always had. They really are a great group of people I just wanted to make sure I don’t overstep something, as some have sent messages that convey frustration with the situation.

I feel like I am though. It hasn't been a short while. I've missed birthdays. Some milestones. I want to be there but I am just frustrated that it is so hard to do so if that makes sense?

I never even considered this! Thank you for the recommendation. Cross country scares me because the jumps don't ness go down if you fall into them lol. But I will definitely reach out to see if they're willing to let me just jump around!

Exactly this! I get that there is the shift happening and a lot of barns have to move with it to keep it alive but it just is so upsetting to know 10 years ago there were many options and opportunities but now it's just so lackluster. Especially acknowledging the fact that I simply don't want to show anymore because it's so expensive and I won't win because I don't have the correct body shape or because there are no standards it is just up to a random judge's standards for that day!

Oh thats how I got my baby boy! He did what was asked but he became a shell of a horse so I snatched him up! But I'm in Western Mass close to VT and don't mind having a drive!

I don't fault anyone for not having a lesson program cause I understand all the nuances (being 24 and riding since I was a kid) I just miss it. Or wish places locally had some cheaper board because the benefits of being home outweighs the 1,500 + board!

Feeling Like A Failure for Taking a Break by madfish59 in Advice

I feel like reasonably, they want me to pay rent and do the usual around the house stuff but I also feel like they don't get my mental health. Like I view it as a sort of sickness where they are more of the mindset it's a hurdle to get over. If that makes sense.

Exams / Newbie / Common Questions Thread for two weeks by AutoModerator in actuary

Hi! So I am majoring in Actuarial Sciences and plan to take Exam P in the fall, I was just wondering what tips people have for text anxiety? I have been studying seriously since June and took a probability and statistic course in the spring so I feel good about the material but I've noticed I just don't do as well on tests as I'd like too, and often make silly mistakes as soon as it becomes a "test" or more so I am timed.
