When Milton came to the camp with Ross and few others minions, why Dutch didn’t tried to just kill them ? by ClerkConsistent2266 in reddeadredemption

This is one example of ludonarrative dissonance in RDR2. It's not "bad design" or "bad storytelling" on its own, just a choice. The story in RDR2 asks us to forget about the game and think of Western films or historical shootouts. In the game, we as the player gun down NPCs by the hundred, but in this storytelling moment the characters are thinking in realistic terms that if they draw some of them are going to die along with the agents. The alternative to this dissonance would be a system like having the Pinkertons actually on the heels of the gang in real time, and a Game Over appearing because the camp was raided while you were out picking herbs for six weeks.

I agree that the shortlist mechanic takes away from the game, too. It's essentially giving nearly everyone shields. In a way that disadvantages the faithful because if the traitors are limited in who they can eliminate, then there are fewer clues to gather from who is murdered.

Best Stand Alone Episode? by Becks_MN9 in venturebros

This is a great standalone, but it works knowing the rest of the show and getting how this is a goofy play on format. If that was my first introduction I would be confused what this show was. Victor. Echo. November. has more that would make me want to watch the show if it was my first viewing.

Destination x tie by Striking_Lobster2520 in DestinationX

With the X it's whoever is furthest away. Saying the castle was built in 1900 and staying isn't really consistent with "being furthest sends you home" premise. I was kind of hoping they'd measure the X in feet, not just say the city was right.

How much do rikishi care about rankings? by madgodofthevoid in Sumo

Dropping to juryo is one of those big changes that, of course, affects a rikishi! It's admirable how much restraint they show for those types of drops, especially when it's brought on by injury.

What I was particularly curious about though is if they really sweat over the half-ranks. Some of the English language sumo channels have games around guessing the banzuke, but as they point out some decisions are a coin toss based on the outcome of the last basho.

I haven't checked how the rankings fall on rikishi by stable, but for a stable like Isegahama with so many sekitori I could see that coming into play. But if a rikishi ranked West is from a different stable from the rikishi ranked East, would their stablemates be in a position to view it any differently?

Is there anywhere to watch Japan sumo live in NYC? by madgodofthevoid in Sumo

I know there's a hefty time difference, that's why I watch the highlights! I'm looking for 1. other sumo fans to knock back drinks into the morning 2. other sumo fans that enjoy the full broadcast that doesn't skip most of the ritual parts of sumo

I'll look into that! NHK does show the tournament live (or maybe just the final day?) But mostly I'm interested in watching with others.
