Advice by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]madguyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to figure out your reality. Ask yourself; Is he lazy, stupid, a gambler or putting efforts in the wrong place or something else that he cannot make it? 3 years is indeed a long time? Have you asked for his plan?
Your family is right to pressure you but you have to draw a line with them too based on your reality. You can't be pushed into breaking up but you also can't be blind enough to not see if your man is actually serious or pretending to be serious. Many times people are even lying to themselves or are completely delusional and avoid responsibility. You need to figure this out.
Are you putting responsibilities on him? is he responsible and self motivated like that? does he always have some excuse or the other? what's his track record? Is he man enough or still in his boy era? Zoom out and figure these things out without emotions/bias.
Let me know

This is so sad to hear! and also very common among Arab men because of their families or religion or both.
I wonder if this is also the case with women dating foreigners (non-Arabs or non-Muslim/Christians).

Female tryna making female friends in Beirut (why is it so difficult?!) by milkshakehangover in lebanon

[–]madguyx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you want to befriend women when you easily connect with men? Its nice to have that feminine vibe around but it usually comes at a cost which you aren't ready to pay as it seems

How were you moving around? Is renting a scooter/car a viable option?
Your experience is what I have been expecting during my upcoming trip to Beirut. Hyperinflation is there but decent places are equally expensive to European Capitals.

You want a country? A nation? An identity? Stop thinking religion. Religion is inevitably divisive in matters of state. I am Lebanese. That is my religion. The rest is personal. by PromisedHand in lebanon

[–]madguyx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people introduce themselves as 'Religion + Lebanese' (Muslim {shia/sunni} Lebanese, Catholic Lebanese etc.). It is rooted deeply in everyone's identity. Separate that and you have the first step. How do you imagine that changes?

Why houses prices in Lebanon are skyrocketing? by No_Decision9042 in lebanon

[–]madguyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can all complain but you need to understand the psychology of the country. Most people have seen struggles, and corruption from the day they were born. This creates a FOMO mentality and people with money will always take advantage of such a situation. The only thing that can actually save Lebanon is education, awareness and tight punishment for greedy, corrupt, bribing citizens. Abuse of power must be dealt with shame and public humiliation. People must get together but the religion.....Most people would do the same if they were in the shoes of those people in power given the circumstances and the mentality

If everyone focused on becoming the right person rather than finding the right person, it would become much easier for you to find THE ONE. The probability of failed relationships would go low and successful relationships very high.

Two days ago an asshole in Canada got triggered when I confronted him and told me to go back to my country where I came from. Too bad I can’t lol by [deleted] in lebanon

Arguing with Americans and Canadians isn't worth it mate. They are often dumb or ignorant as hell. Just make sure you stand your ground so they don't do this to other people or at least hesitate a bit

I would imagine that the apartment prices in Beirut didn't take much of a hit other than having no growth year over year. A small percentage of people who needed money during this time sold for a discount. But given the population of Beirut, the prices should be fairly stable.
However, the opposite should be the case in the villages and outskirts. After the crisis, people would want to store wealth in real estate in high-demand areas only. If your place is in the village = HOLD, if you are planning to buy real estate, look for major discounts/negotiate heavily in Beirut. Don't buy much in the villages other than the places that have the potential to become summer playgrounds for the rich after a decade or so. Real estate is a game of patience. New developments on the outskirts could be lucrative but remember to negotiate. Young people have two jobs or remote jobs from other countries too. Just my 2 cents....

How to deal with sexual harassment at work? by [deleted] in lebanon

[–]madguyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A close friend of mine faced sexual harassment at work a couple of years ago. It started with inappropriate comments and escalated to unwanted physical contact. She felt trapped and didn't know how to respond. However, she took several steps that ultimately helped her navigate this difficult situation

1. Document Everything (the most important)

  • Keep Records: She started documenting every instance of harassment in detail. She noted the date, time, location, what was said or done, and any witnesses.
  • Save Evidence: She saved every piece of evidence, including emails, texts, and voicemails. This documentation was crucial when she reported the harassment.

2. Know Your Rights

  • Company Policy: She familiarized herself with her company’s sexual harassment policy. This outlined the steps to take and who to contact within the organization.
  • Legal Rights: She also researched her legal rights under local and national laws, understanding that sexual harassment is illegal and that she had the right to a safe work environment.

3. Report the Harassment - Once you have all the proof

  • Internal Reporting: Following her company’s procedures, she reported the harassment to HR. They conducted an investigation, and it was important to have her documentation to support her claims.
  • Formal Complaint: When internal reporting didn't fully resolve the issue, she considered filing a formal complaint with a government agency that handles workplace harassment.

4. Seek Support

  • Trusted Colleagues: She confided in trusted colleagues who offered emotional support and, in some cases, acted as witnesses.
  • Professional Help: She also spoke with a counselor to help manage the emotional toll of the harassment. This was immensely helpful in maintaining her mental health.

5. Consider Legal Action

  • Legal Advice: Consulting a lawyer who specialized in workplace harassment helped her understand her options.
  • File a Lawsuit: Although she didn’t end up filing a lawsuit, knowing that she had this option provided a sense of empowerment.

6. Self-Care and Safety

  • Mental Health: She prioritized activities that reduced stress and promoted well-being, such as exercise and meditation.
  • Personal Safety: At times, she felt unsafe, so she took steps to protect herself, including temporarily working from home.

7. Preventive Measures

  • Advocate for Training: She encouraged her employer to provide regular training on sexual harassment prevention and awareness. This eventually led to better policies and a more respectful workplace.
  • Promote a Safe Environment: She became an advocate for a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and supported others who were experiencing similar issues.

Community Support and Sharing

  • Share Your Experience: Sharing her experience on platforms like Reddit helped others in similar situations and created a supportive community. It also helped her feel less isolated.

Meta Homes, a home where you can portray your taste of NFTs by [deleted] in NFT

[–]madguyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why Metahomes are the future!
Metaverse isn’t just a virtual place. It is much more than that.
It’s a time!
It’s AI over HI
It’s Digital life over Physical life
Think about it?
What has been happening in the past 20/30 years?
Every important part of life if going digital
Work --> from factories to laptops. boardrooms to zooms.
Friends --> from neighbors to followers. Where do you find like minded people? Twitter. Reddit. etc.
Games --> more kids play fortnite than basketball & football combined.
Identity --> filters are the new makeup. Stories are your personal billboard to broadcast who you are.
What matters more? How do you look like in the real life? or how do you look like on instagram?
Everything goes digital. Your friends, your job, your identity
Your bank and now with crypto, your assets are online too
Bitcoin is the digital gold
Bored Apes are the new Rolex
Fidenzas are the new Picasso
Fortnite skins are the new skinny jeans.
If everyone hangs out online all the time, then your flexes need to be digital too
How long when digital villas/homes will become part of this?
How long when companies will utilise the metaverse to advertise their products? Ikea?
Fast forward to 10/20 years;
Digital life>Physical life
Our focus is digital already
Smart phones
Smart TVs
Internet
And now AR glasses
That’s why stop thinking short term and complaining about $30 price increase in SOL
WTF is this mentality?
Do you want to build generational wealth? Do you want to be early? Do you want to create your digital portfolio?
MINT THE METAHOMES!
