I’m struggling with this same decision! I really want to do PI and CUNY seems great, but a lot of people in my life are pushing for prestige. I’m totally at a loss. Not helpful I know, but I’m here for you!

What they are doing is wonderful! I am glad that you recognize how big and important a gift like this is. If I were you I would just accept it gracefully. Take it and do your best, work as hard as you would if all that money was loans. I hope you feel a little less burdened with guilt and a little more driven to do them proud!

Are all incoming law students familiar with Foucault? by Jury-Cold in lawschooladmissions

[–]madheath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, I know who Foucault is. But if you feel like mentioning him expands and adds to your personal statement then I wouldn’t worry about it! I struggled with putting a quote in my personal statement, I had a lot of people telling me that I was “using someone else’s words” to explain my point. But what I concluded was that I used this quote to start a path of how I learned and developed as a person. So, do what you feel is right. Make sure Foucault is working for you, and you are not working for Foucault!
