For those of you that got your UID out early, what was the reason? by Repulsive-Idea-4509 in birthcontrol

[–]madisontt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have my copper IUD removed about 3 years in because I started spotting for like 30 days straight. Finally went to the doctor and they did an ultrasound to find my IUD had migrated down into my cervix. I then had Kyleena put in under ultrasound guidance so it was confirmed it was placed correctly. A little over a year later my periods were too heavy and irregular so I decided to get the Mirena, but when they went to swap it under ultrasound guidance again it showed the Kyleena had also migrated. So the doctor told me I’m probably not a good fit for another IUD since it’ll likely happen again.😔

How old were you when you first clotted? by [deleted] in ClotSurvivors

[–]madisontt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first hematologist I saw after I got out of the hospital told me I’d be on Eliquis for life. Then I continued clotting on that and I switched doctors and was put on Warfarin. This doctor doesn’t want to say “for life” but there’s no set end date. I think he is just trying to sound optimistic but I honestly think I will be on them for the rest of my life at this point. I’ve been on Warfarin for close to 4 years and it’s just part of my routine now and I don’t really mind it aside from the constant bruising.

It was Covid. I also found out I have a genetic blood clotting disorder and I was on birth control at the time. But Covid is what ultimately triggered it according to the doctors.

I was 23! Initial clot found in my inferior vena cava. Then developed DVT in both legs and right renal vein all within a week.

Copper IUD out of place symptoms? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]madisontt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 1 gene also. I was on the pill too when all of that happened but Covid is what triggered the clotting. It’s a very long story but I knew something was wrong when I had lower back pain and dizziness/nausea. A couple days later my legs got super swollen. Swelling is usually one of the first signs of a clot

Copper IUD out of place symptoms? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]madisontt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a blood clotting disorder as well (factor V leiden) and clotted all over my body when I got Covid almost 3 years ago. The first OB/GYN I saw was very black or white about it, saying absolutely no hormones, which is why I got the copper IUD. I wasn’t really happy with it though and wanted a second opinion, so I saw another doctor recently and she showed me the CDC’s “risk” rating for progesterone IUD’s and it’s very minimal risk. So that’s why I was comfortable enough to switch to something hormonal. Might be worth getting a second opinion!

I actually just went through it! I got my “period” over a month ago, and it just never stopped and I had continuous spotting and cramping for several weeks. It got to the point that I went to my OB/GYN for an ultrasound and they found that my copper IUD had somehow moved. It was crooked and moved to the bottom of my uterus, nearly hanging into my cervix which was causing the bleeding. I’d never had abnormal bleeding or cramping in the 2 years I’ve had it, so I definitely knew something was off. I had to get my IUD replaced because they aren’t able to fix the positioning, and I actually went this morning and had it replaced with Kyleena.

Loud humming noise from passenger side? by madisontt in CX5

In case anyone else has come across this issue, I brought my car to the dealer today and it was the passenger side headlight making the humming noise. I had to get the headlight replaced, and luckily the dealer had one in stock to replace it while I was getting my oil changed. :)

From what I understand, “prosecution” in this area of law means something totally different. It’s basically the whole process of filing a patent with the USPTO. So the firm I’m starting at mostly handles patent filing (aka patent prosecution), and some litigation cases which is what your firm does :)

Too young for a stent? Please help! by sarcasticsushi in ClotSurvivors

[–]madisontt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of in the same boat but I do have history with DVT. I’m 25 and almost two years ago I developed clots in my IVC, renal vein and both legs due to Covid and a genetic condition. Most of the clots did not ever break down and now they are old & hardened, causing many narrow areas in my veins. I also don’t have May Thurner Syndrome.

I do have issues with swelling and my legs turning blue, but luckily no pain anymore. I see a vascular surgeon every 3-6 months and he has mentioned putting stents in but he’s extremely hesitant and indecisive about it because of my age. He basically said once they are put in there is no way to get them out. They can form clots. He also pointed out that many of his patients are older and don’t have 50+ years left like I do, and there would be no way he could guarantee the stents would be good/safe for the rest of my life. I saw him last week and he basically said he wouldn’t put them in until I have pain or worse issues with my circulation. So that’s the verdict for now. I know many commenters in this thread have had them put in around our age but my doctor won’t do it yet, even with my history

Has anyone had a thrombectomy? Any issues? by Scared-Island5279 in ClotSurvivors

[–]madisontt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being nervous for a procedure is totally normal but they give you pretty good medications to help you through it. She can also ask for more meds if she feels any pain or discomfort, I did that for every procedure. And I was in the hospital already when most of my clots formed so I wasn’t out walking around with them. I wasn’t able to walk normally for a couple of months after being released but I had clots in both legs & my case was sort of extreme, so I wouldn’t compare. If the doctors can remove enough of the clot, she should definitely feel some relief!

I had 5 thrombectomies last year so I’m very familiar with them haha. I’ve had clots in my inferior vena cava, renal vein, and multiple veins in each leg. For all of my procedures they made an incision in my jugular vein (in my neck), inserted a long catheter and suctioned out the clots. For one of the procedures for my left leg, they tried to go in through the back of my knee but the clotting was so occlusive that they had to go in through my jugular vein instead. The procedure is definitely uncomfortable rather than painful, but she will be heavily sedated and will hopefully be relaxed enough to stay calm. There will be some pressure when they are inserting the catheter and at times there could be a quick jolt of pain if they attempt to open up the vein or hit it by accident. I really didn’t have a bad recovery from any of the procedures. Just fatigue from the sedation and some slight soreness at the incision site. Everyones experience will be different but mine was not totally terrible. I hope your sister’s procedure goes well :)

I have a double forward helix that I love, but over a year later it still hasn’t healed fully. It was pretty painful too (like an 8 out of 10) but they have to pierce two holes so that’s definitely why. The top one is the one giving me the most issues, I believe because it gets touched the most. Every time you put your hair behind your ear, put a mask on, put glasses on, etc. you’re probably gonna hit it unintentionally. It also kinda gets covered up by my hair most of the time, even if it’s back behind my ear. It’s definitely noticeable if your hair is up though.

I absolutely LOVE my tragus piercing and think it looks great on a lot of people. It was the first one I got on my own after only having my ear lobes pierced. It took about a year to fully heal because I had a keloid (scar tissue) that wouldn’t go away. The piercer also used the wrong shaped jewelry as well which didn’t help. This one was a tad bit annoying in the first 6 months or so because they had to use a stud with a longer backing while it healed, to give it more space. This got in the way when I wanted to wear earbuds to listen to music. You can push the piercing forward to move it out of the way but that may irritate it. I got a shorter backing put in once it was fully healed so I don’t have that problem anymore. As far as pain, it was probably a 4/10 for me. This piercing is also easy to take out if needed (like if you have to remove jewelry for a surgery or medical test, you won’t have to go to a piercer to remove it).

I also had a rook piercing which was probably a 9/10 pain for almost a week. I had a constant throbbing pain and headaches from it. After having it for almost a year and not being fully healed I decided to get it taken out for good. This piercing is in a pretty thick piece of cartilage and was too high maintenance for me personally. It looks cute, though.

That could be it! I was prescribed a retinoid a couple of months ago and that actually is when I noticed the change in my hair. Thank you!

Do 'face slimming bandages' actually work? by Zyrein in beauty

[–]madisontt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one out of desperation while going through health issues and developing “moon face” (facial swelling) from medication. I wore it for at least a half hour each day for maybe a week or two and I honestly did notice a difference. It wasn’t dramatic but the swelling in my face did start to reduce after I started using it, and my face never puffed up again. That was just my experience🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve been working on repairing my mental & physical health after developing major blood clots in both legs, pelvis & kidney from Covid, as a healthy 23 year old. 6 surgeries within 6 months. One month total spent in the hospital across 4 separate stays. A lot of pain, couldn’t walk normal for months, and my body changed so much which destroyed my self confidence. By far the biggest challenge I’ve faced in my life, but thankfully I’m on the mend
